it looks great on my core i5 6600k @4.6GHZ, DDR4 3200MHZ 8 GB RAM, GTX 970 4GB VRAM, is stable, can play for hours at good temps, but I am encountering a problem with NPC's with my new game.

 

Specifically uniquely skinned guards in Whiterun, Uthgerd the Unbroken, the Sleeping Giant Inn keeper (who doesn't attack, only cowers in fear and shows up as an enemy on my radar) as well as imperial patrols and a few other npcs in Riverwood.

 

I installed some compatibility patches I was missing for immersive citizens I think and a few other mods that add npcs which fixed it initially but I've been playing through (at level 11 now) and the problem has reappeared.

 

I tried cleaning my game with save cleaner and papyrus data transfer but that didn't help. I can just delete the hostile npcs in console but I feel like if I keep playing with this it is going to get worse, as before I installed the compatibility patches I mentioned above the game would also be CTDing if I tried to enter Whiterun, which it hasn't been all through my recent play through, until the guards hostiled me again and the game crashed once. Only once, but it was an exact repeat of the crash when the patches weren't installed(running up the road into Whiterun through the fortifications, guard hostile, ctd), which leads me to believe its immersive citizens or patrols one of the other npc mods I have installed which is causing this.

 

Any ideas what mod could be causing this or if there is any way to fix it would be appreciated, thanks.

well I kind of answered my own question, it is immersive citizens that is doing it, started a new game without it and its patches now I am CTD like crazy, which is weird because the actual game aside from the npc bug was working fine before.

 

I am about to just delete everything and reinstall skyrim at this point.

 

edit: just had to update my bashed patch and sort load order. working fine now, mods can delete this if so inclined.
