Your Essential Modlist

I had an idea earlier, when considering whether I wanted any more mods or not. It came when I remembered what it was like to be beginning modifying my game. So I thought that, rather than having many small topics with new players asking for good mods, we could consolidate it into one place.

So, I simply ask, as the title suggests, for your Essential Modlist.

Let's give a hand to new players and veterans alike, you never know what gems you've missed.

So, here is mine:

Natural Environments

Gives better and more expansive weather, along with clearer water and a host of other nice weather effects such as rainbows, there are multiple versions of this one.

Deadly Reflexes

Adds to the Vanilla combat with new moves, such as shield bashing, as well as dodge effects. It has expanded to include decapitations, throat cutting and slicing in half, as well as adding spell effects. Also horse combat and mounted spellcasting are welcome additons to the game. Requires Oblivion Script Extender.

Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Fixes many bugs not attended to by Bethesda, really helpful mod.

Streamline

One of a few performance enhancing mods, provides Framerate smoothing through a variety of methods.

Living Economy

Makes the economy more like Morrowind, with transactions that add or subtract money from a merchant, as well as a supply and demand system.

Leviathan Soulgems

Remodels and textures the Vanilla soulgems to have colour and be like the ones in Morrowind, also adds a particle effect to those that have been filled.

DarkUId Darn

This makes navigating the menus MUCH easier than the console ported interface, goes well with Elven Redux Map.

Eagle Eye Realistic Archery

Ups arrow speed, makes it more true to life, rather than at a speed akin to throwing the arrow yourself.

No Quest Items

Allows you to sell and drop quest items, makes it much easier to have a clean inventory.

Quiet Feet

Another performance improver that is almost required on medium to low systems if you want to use horses or fight anything with more than two feet.

nVidia Black Screen Bug Fix

As the name implies, only for nVidia card users, this prevents the infamous black screen bug that occurs in certain circumstances.

Female Male

For male bodies I use Robert's and for females I use Female Eyecandy, both make the Vanilla bodies much better, also, for the faces, using TNR is recommended, makes them more beautiful and realistic.

Then of course there are the FCOM modifications, but I would advice caution around them, as they tend to completely change th Oblivion experience, for better or worse depending on playing style. I plan to use them after I feel I have completed the game.

Anyway, hope this works out and we can provide a worthwhile source of the best mods, as that is what this site is about, the promotion of user made modifications.
