saeb
I have been searching a bit and the problem is coming up on the net little by little. Essentially when an arrow is shot at an enemy from a certain distance the arrow passes right through the enemy. The arrow will still strike a surface a trigger an alerted reaction from enemies however it will not damage the enemy. I don't know if this is linked to render distance, or if there are any settings which control this in the .inis. I personally have gotten very good at lining up intensely long range shots, and would really like them to actually hit my quarry. If anyone would like to take on this challenge, you will be my savior. Until then I'm sticking to my warrior. I hope someone can at least shed some light on this. P.S. No I'm not "just missing" this problem is repeatable and it is unconfirmed that the distance at which this happens varies. (I get it at about one crosshair over arc, some other complaints I've heard were "medium range" possibly linking this to performance settings?) Dreezn
+1! I've had this happen a few times, and not at an extreme range... It's a strange phenomenon, I'd have no idea how to begin troubleshooting it...
GileadMaerlyn
+1 Had this problem too. Hardly understandable, as it worked perfectly in oblivion.
saeb
I kind of just hope this gets patched if enough people report it and make a stink about it. It's definitely patch material. The real buzzkill is that I have never enjoyed archery in a game as much as I have in Skyrim.

saeb
http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/forum/117-v-skyrim/ We should probably take this to the official forums so they just patch it, un-reasonable to expect the modding community to fix a horrible bug like this. saeb
Are there any other ini's than skyrim and skyrimprefs that may house the key to unlocking this problem? The distance at which mobs seem to be ethereal to projectiles may be controlled by some kind of perameter!
chrismgtis
I'd like to also add that if an enemy is in it's "giving up" position and you fire arrows at him/her from a very close distance, you can't get a hit. Numerous times I've fired 6-7 arrows at close range (point blank) when the enemy is bent over giving up and could never hit them. I back up, fire again and it's a hit. :)
shittakaburi
Happens to me, too. Don't know about an ini parameter, though.
