Switching NPC Textures: How easy is it?

Hihi;

I basically just want to switch the textures and meshes, of two NPCs. For personal taste only. Is it as easy as renaming the meshes and textures?

 

I did not play Oblivion, so I'm unsure if Bethesda handles NPC Textures & meshes as easy as the Bioware games have.
