  1. 1. Do you read the books in Skyrim?

This may seem slightly weird but one of the reasons i love the elder scrolls so much is the books they include. So far in my first Skyrim game I've read every single new book I've come across and some of the old ones from Oblivion and the like. I actually hoard them, the only reason I bought a house was to find someplace to store them all. So I was wondering, do other people actually read the books in game and if so which is your favourite? For my part it's a toss up between the Black Arrow V2 (yes I know its from Oblivion) and Chance's Folly. I wonder what other's are? Edited by WiseMan999

My favorite books are the kind that describe actual locations you can visit and they help you explore them. I think from Oblivion one good example was Ruins of Kemel Ze or something like that....

Why I also love journals left behind in caves describing what the previous explorers were trying to do, and hints at what happened to them.

I love that kind of stuff

honestly iv never read any books in the elder scrolls or any rpg, mainly due to my ability to not read books in real life as i don't have the patience or attenspan to read them, i get bored to easy..but i really should start to read these books in-game since i already role play some and never fast travel and walk in towns/builds and don't really run/sprint in them lol

EDIT: i should mention i do open books for the things they give sometimes, but i don't actually read the book itself....may start though

RP-ing as a lore master/wizard so i have read almost every book i have come across, i really like any books on the dwemer, there vanishing act is something that really interests me, but iv'e got to say so far my favourite book is the woodcutters wife, just for the impact it had on my gameplay, i refuse to travel in or around the fall forest at night now because the amount of detail bethesda has put in this game i really do expect to see a ghostly woman weeping for her lost children carrying a bloody axe in that forest now...

Sometimes reading books is fun, as it can broadly enhance the context, in which the game is experienced. My favorites ones are those, that will make you visit actual locations ingame or give you more insight on specific things, like everything about the dwemer. Edited by Nadimos
