Hi guys, so I'm using F4SE to launch my games since if Modding the game the Achievements will be disable. So I downloaded a Mod to enable the Achievements.
But it requires me to use F4SE. Problem is whenever I use F4SE to launch the game it disables the STEAM Overlay....any solution to this ?? Or is this happening to everyone ?
Yes I have the latest F4SE.

I've even tried disabling my MSI AB OSD to check if it's crashing with each other, no luck it didn't work....

What do you mean it disables the Steam overlay? First, close Steam in your system tray and reopen it. As of late steam has been updating and when it does then the Fallout 4 launcher won't start for me. After you restart Steam and it's initialized make sure the Fallout 4 launcher opens and you can start Fallout 4 by clicking play. Once you can do that then run F4SE the usual way with the f4se_loader.exe. It will automatically start the game and use it's corresponding DLL files. Just make sure you have for correct version of Fallout 4 and F4SE. So for me I am using 1.6.3 of Fallout 4. So in my Fallout 4 folder I have f4se_1_6_3.dll, f4se_steam_loader.dll, and f4se_loader.exe. When you check your version also make sure you have not accidentally left any older files or an old DLL such as f4se_1_5_416.dll when you aren't using Fallout 1.5.416. It will cause F4SE to malfunction. Manually check your Fallout 4 folder to be sure what's installed.

If I read correctly, its Bethesda temporarily disabling the achievements. Which is the reason the that mod. Remember they still have two more DLCs to release, and unknown number or patches.

F4SE only bypasses the FO4.exe, and allows scripts to be used. You will not see FO4's start screen, like you do with FO4.exe.

The game launcher does not allow mods that change/add scripts to work. I have never had an issue with achievements not working with F4SE, or Skyrims equivalent.

As posted above, F4SE is dependant on FO4 game version. Game updates, F4SE must be updated as well.

Yes I've confirmed all of these.

F4SE is working for me, but though Achievements are disabled even with that Achievement mod. Maybe like what " bill8872 " said Bethesda had disabled them I'm unsure.

But that doesn't matter.

What matter is I can play Fallout 4 with F4SE, Mods are running, but the only problem is STEAM Overlay isn't working !

Basically I can chat with my friends in STEAM or open the Web Browser via STEAM Overlay. You know, when you Shift + TAB you will bring up the STEAM Overlay.

I've checked that I've enabled STEAM Overlay for Fallout 4 and I've tried disabling MSI AB OSD just in case it conflict, not it doesn't work.

I've tried playing Fallout 4 without F4SE instead the normal way using Fallout4.exe, the STEAM Overlay will work.

Just won't when I launch via F4SE....weird...

Now I know what you mean by Steam overlay. You are correct, F4SE bypass the Steam launcher to start the game, so it allows mods that use scripts to function. For reasons I do not understand, Bethesda's programing does not recognize most scripted mods without F4SE.

Some Steam functions may still work, like the FPS overlay, but there Shift+ Tab will not.

This would a question for the Script extender team, but I have been using it for years in Skyrim, so I am almost certain the the overlay is a function that will never be able to function while using F4SE. As far as the overlay goes, you are playing the game offline, but your really not offline. If that make any sense.

Yes exactly !

I play both Skyrim and Fallout NW, both of them I too use Scrip Extender.

Both of those games the STEAM Overlay will still work even if I use Scrip Extender....

Except Fallout 4 ! Hope they will fix this in future.

Is the team who made F4SE same team as the ones who made Fallout NW and Skyrim ??

Well now this is weird. Since the F4SE update came out I though I'd install it and test this. I have a steam overlay. I don't know what i would be doing differently though. I have windows 7 Home and Steam and Fallout 4 aren't installed in Program Files because we all know you should never do that. I haven't manually moved my install and I sometimes exit out of steam and restart it and I occasionally run the fallout 4 launcher. Then of course I have logged into Bethesda.net in game at least once to link the accounts and so on. So not sure why it's not working for you.

This is the thread for F4SE on Bethesda.net.
