Oblivion has "forgotten" my factions / status

Has anyone had the situation where Oblivion forgets your character's faction or rank within a faction?

Swung by Chorrol tonight and neither Modryn Oreyn or the porter knew me as the Master and there is no topic item to pass on my orders to Modryn. Checked Skingrad porter and same thing. No recognition. (Y'know ... "Yes Master ... You need me?"). Sabine would sell / buy stuff so she at least knows I'm in the Fighters Guild.

Anyway, I've checked other places and I can't sell black bows, vampire dust, nirnroot, nor shadowbanish wine to respective NPCs. The topics are also missing from them. All folks in Cyrodil refer to me as only Sir Knight but Dark Seducers and Aureals do refer to me as Lord and Rowley still wants to sell me the stuff to Deepscorn (uncompleted quest).

I upgraded to Blackie's CM mod v1.6 on 17 Dec but found a save from 19 Dec where I am still recognized as the Master so I don't think that is it. Still, I loaded a save from earlier today without the CM mod and still no recognition. So I'm pretty sure its not the mod. For whatever reason, something has happened in the past 4 days.

Really hate to lose all the hours I put in this weekend if there is a fix out there; but if I gotta. Oh well.

Any thoughts?? Mahalo for any feedback.

BTW, .... wishing you all a Seasons Aloha ... Duke

How did you exit the Shivering Isles?

That's it!!! I couldn't remember so I found my last SI save and did some testing.

Seems I must have exited through the portal mod needed for Wei Chan companion to enter/exit SI though she wasn't with me at the time.

Went through the portal and Bravil Fighters Guild porter didn't refer to me as Master, etc.

Exited "Door to the Heartlands" and I'm the Master again, and the others ask about Black Bows, nirnroot, Shadowbanish wine, etc.

Because of you ... I've only lost about two hours off my game rather than days.

Mahalo nui loa for your kokua. (thanks a lot for your help). Seasons Aloha.
