Bizzarre Mesh error - likely self-inflicted

This is a bit new for me, but I've run into a very odd mesh error. I fear I may have inadvertently mucked-up the .bsa archive, but I have no idea. I was playing with some mods, specifically around the forsworn armour. All were working as expected, but I thought I'd be clever and take a look at the original .dds to see how they were accomplished. Being a bit of an idiot, I tried the Oblivion BSA browser first (which did not work). I then used BSAopt (I've not put this in the discussion there as I don't know this was the cause) and exported the .dds I wanted. This seemed to work (although I got way more textures than I wanted), and all was great until I fired up Skyrim and this happened:

The upper portion of the glove and boots were completely missing (leaving ugly mesh/normals-gaps). I systematically removed all of the mods I had installed, but no avail. The picture above is from the reverse-modded Skyrim. I checked the game cache, checked any weird settings, but nothing. The meshes on other armours appear ok (Lydia is fine) and the few NPC's around appear fine (I'm in Whiterun now).

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Tirick
