TomMerritt
So ... How far along are you? I'm a level-15 Breton. I've always been a Breton because I can usually level my fighting skills up to thepoint where I can compete with anyone, and that extra 50% Magica is fun. I was born in High Rock, but moved to Morrowind at an early age. I did a stint working for the King in Mournhold. When that didn't work out, I moved to the Imperial City. I was good friends with Martin Septim. When he died, I moved to Skyrim. Here in Skyrim, the Jarl of Whitehall's Court Mage mentioned that things have changed in the Empire since Martin died, but other people in Skyrim have mentioned "The Emperor" as if he was alive and well. I wonder what the hell is going on back in Cyrodiil? One of the things I've noticed here in Skyrim is that rivers have currents! Have you tried whitewater rafting yet? Just jump into some fast-flowing river and over the rapids. You'll be amazed at how fast you go! If you have a companion, they won't follow, though. You'll have to wait untilthey catch up with you. I've been mostly following MISC quests out of Whitehall. Some Greybeards want to talk to me, but I haven't been to see them yet. (I went to see them once very early, but this girl Lydia I've beenhanging out with got killed by an Ice Troll, so I aborted after following the quest through. At least I knowwhat they want of me.) All in all, this is a fabulous experience, but I do have a few beefs: - I'm getting better at the UI, but it really stinks. I'm forever eating things I meant to store. I find myself running around naked in the snow from time to time. - I have a cousin who visited the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave. Both he and I are getting pretty sick of landscapes in shades of grey. I really miss my time in Cyrodiil with it's glorious colors. - This is the new world of gaming. Absolutely beautiful, but dumbed way down. Morrowind had about a million skills, and you had to plan your abilities carefully to take advantage of them. Oblivion was much more simple, but proper planning was still important. Skyrim is simpler yet. I've noticed the same trend in many other games as well. Civilization-V is a good example. I guess the authors feel that our intelligence and attention span is getting shorter with each generation. I'm sure that's what killed flight simulators (my all-time favorite). Note that I've been living in the Empire for about 20 years now, having been through every Bethesda offering since Arena. I still have an old Win-98 machine set up for the occasional jaunt into Hammerfell or Daggerfall. It's a whole hell of a lot easier to get killed up here. This is not a beef, but a challenge. I never dida QuickSave in any of my earlier residences, but I guess if a big guy hits you twice with a big axe, dying is pretty logical. I just need to adjust my style a bit. I'm not the strongest guy around by a long shot, but I don't think that matters much up here. Yourstrength seems to be only for the ability to carry things. You can't work on your Abilities, only your Skills. I'm learning many new skills. I think that learning to be a good Smith may be the most important, but Alchemy and Enchanting are fun too. Keep me posted on your progress (without Spoilers, please!).
Matrriosh
Ok this is my first post here so i will start somehow. First to say Hello to you and all other members. I started to play Elder Scrolls since Oblivion but TBH i did not like it very much,i got bored after playing it after 20h or so...Now i play Skyrim and i like it very very much. I am playing Nord Warrior, now im lvl 23,combining dual wield with one hand-shield(depends on situation). I stoped doing main quest line because i dont want to finish game to early,i am more into doing side quests and exploring, searching for dragons to collect their souls and going into caves and temples to upgrade shouts. I even had a bit strange situation when i saw one dragon attacking someone and when i started to killing him i didnt notice i was standing near a grave of other dragon,in meanwhile the boss dragon came and arised other dragon so i had to fight both of them at the same time...well i got them killed ofc but was a long and funny fight. Anyway that about it,if you have some other questions or something feel free to ask.
