fokka
Theres not 1 thing ur wrong about with this game. Let me tell u a little story :) Im 30years old and have played computer games since my first Amiga500..no boys, thats not some kind of a "console" :) That was the time when there WERENT any chordless phones, no mobile phones, just 1 kind of gaseline that u could fill up ur car with at the gas station :) Ive played games for a very very very long time now and there was only 1 game in history that made my heart wanting to jump out of my body, running out in the kitchen and getting a fork and a frying pan, running back to where i sit just to pick out my eyes with the fork and hit me uncouncius with pan when i was playing the first Alien vs Predator.. The first game .. Play marine in that game then was almost to commit suicide, man that game was so scary...So dark...so little ammo (not really u had like 1000charges) but it seems little when all of the sudden look at ur sensor and there was a bazillion dots on it all around u, but u didnt c on fking alien..2 sekonds later u looked on the ceeling..and....there they were.. A horrific scream and all those bazillion dots on the sensor RUSHED at u, ur flashlight was almost out so the only light u had was from the muzzle from the weapon u were firing..I was SO scared :) U might think im a "pus¤y" and saying to ur self "lol what a whimp, its only a game man, chill out" And yes :)It is only a game, but VERY few games are that good to really lure ur mind that its NOT just a game... And my GOD i love those games! So, for Skyrim then. Ive have been w8ing for Skyrim for so long now. U know this is the ONLY single player game i have played in like ...uhm..i dont know..3-4-5 years maybe bcouse i get really boored with single player games fast..its to easy, to linier and it doesnt really give my anything. TES is really diff tho :)So w/e..First dungeon i did was Bleak Falls Burrow..u know where u have to find the secret to it and bring back a Golden Claw..So..it was dark, headphones on..and i have just been walking around in the game for a loong time and gathering, hunting stuff, listening to the sounds, looking at the AMAZING graphics!!!! so i kinda built up a "connection" to the game w/o even knowing it.. So..everything was cool in the dungeon until the first corps and the first trap set off... From that point in the dungeon i was holding shift(walk) in 24/7 and i was f***ing scared! :D One point i had take a break from the game and just walk around in my appartment just to cool my self off! Now thats crazy! I really love this game :) Not for the graphics or the combat, but solo for the epic storys i listen to in the cities, the insane surroundings and probably 300+ books I HAVE READ in the game.. Sorry for a rant, but just wanted to share :)
csgators
Agree with the immersion part. NPC town chatter is far more realistic. Love how every new big town you set foot in for the first time there is some event going on (group of npcs talking about the current events aka murder or what not, or even a public beheading, etc.) to get you the player a taste of what the mood is and what to expect in terms of welcoming. Love Skyrim! In some ways I hate it. I kinda wish they would back burner it little so I could look around a bit first. It is cool they have these conversations going on though. darkblayd
When I read posts where someone is bitching about how short Skyrim is, how there are “deal breaker” issues that make the game unplayable and that Skyrim is little more than a crappy beta that was rushed out the door, I realize that these people are missing out on a wonderful experience…or they simply don’t appreciate the mind bending complexity involved in making Skyrim, not to mention making it work on vastly different PC systems….or, they are trolls or derps. I love the scenery and the "feel" of the game as much as you do probably, but It's completely understandable that people get mad at some of the shoddy/poorly executed design when it comes to the bread and butter mechanics/playability of the game. Some things are so blatantly and obviously neglected, you can tell it's like no one plays or tests the version of the game that is ready to ship. The modding community took what... 3 days after release to figure out why there were visual artifacts on many of the textures in game? Can you really say it's respectable to ship a game like this with blocky noses for instance? You pay your graphic artists and they do excellent work and then you compress the files poorly and tarnish it? No one noticed? I'm sure they did... The game is a success imo, it's just a shame that gaming companies like bethesda seem to have an attitude like "oh we'll fix it later" or "that's what modders are for". I understand bugs, I'm still enjoying the hell out of the game. I just don't think there should be blatantly ignored and overlooked obvious issues within 2 hours of playing the game, without even doing anything weird or asking for it on your own. There's not much excuse for that and a little indignation about it from the community is justifiable at times. It's not just Skyrim, this has become the norm for most games since companies can now just patch it later assuming everyone has an internet connection. It's a wonder we had playable games back before online updates right?
adytum
After my first, really long session in the game, I went out to buy groceries. For a second, standing outside, I was convinced that the bird flying above me was a dragon.
