Oh great, another patch...

Thats all? We need to wait a couple of days for a FO4SE update just for a f***ing "save-on-exit"-patch? :wallbash:

Pfft, multiple days. F4SE usually updates on the same day patches are put out.

So I guess randomly resetting settlers is a vault-tec feature?

Yes, of course? Didn't you know that? It's an ultra-mega-giga secret vault-experiment - so secret, that not even Bethesda knows about it

The teleportation-into-the-void-and-identity-changing experiment. Tested for secret agents to hide their identity....

I think you might be onto something, except I would say that vault-tec real-life counterpart is Bethesda and their testing, how much frustration we can put up with before stop using F4SE…. they maybe they don’t want us using it… It takes in 3 ½ months to fix things we really want them to fix, when, and only affects PC they will send their patches as soon as possible…. Only one feature that no one cared about on PC……..

PS. Is there a way to fool F4SE your still on 1.6.3?

There's a way to stop Steam updating your game:

1. Navigate to Fallout 4 in your Steam library.

2. Right click and open "Properties".

3. Go to the "Updates" tab.

4. Under automatic updates, switch to "Only update this game when I launch it".

5. Only ever launch the game through F4SE.

The last step is the crucial one. If you launch the game through F4SE then it won't automatically update through Steam. If you ever launch it through Steam or even through Fallout4.exe, it will update automatically.

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4556475-psa-you-can-disable-automatic-updates-in-steam-and-avoid-f4se-breaking/

Now that's useful to know, thanks. I don't have any mods that require F4SE, but I'll install it just to be able to prevent updates.

Edit: interesting fact: 1.6.3 wasn't released to consoles, according to here. So, PC players are just a cheap way to do beta tests before Bethesda publishes an update to their actual customers?

Bethesda is probably using the pc base to test the patche incase they introduce any bugs in them and doesn't want to upset Microsoft with another broken patch, for example Skyrim had about 3 patches that broke the Dragons. I don't think anyone is going to forget the infamous 1.02 patch for Skyrim that caused the Dragons to fly backwards.

Besides on PC Bethesda can introduce patches instantly, while on consoles they have to wait for the patches to be approved by Sony and Microsoft before they can be updated.

Just noticed that my steam upgraded fallout to 1.6.9. Hoping that it would fix at least some of the issues with that trainwreck called 1.6.3, I went to the bethesda forum for the changelog, and what does it say? "ExitSave now supports "Exit to Desktop"". So, they completely disregarded all the bug reports and it took them a whole week to just add one single function call to the exit to desktop action?!

Or do you think they actually added some ninja fixes in there? Or did they actually break the game even more? Well, I'm not testing it, I restored my 1.5.something backup right away and put Steam into offline mode until I know more. But maybe someone here can figure out what the 1.6.9 patch really does?

Days like today make me really miss when a patch was optional, offered to you if you wanted it, instead of being shoved down your throat on the tip of some big business d***.

Really annoying to have to do stuff like track the hash of every file in the game folder and keep backups we can roll back to when a official patch breaks everything.

And to answer your question about what 1.6.9 really does, for me it causes constant FPS drops and micro stutter when certain mods are active. I'm still working through the mods I have installed but I am not near qualified enough to understand what exactly is going on. Suspect something changed with how scripts are handled based on a couple personal mods I started testing on two days ago, worked fine until this mornings patch and now the game is 110% unplayable with them loaded.

Personally I am just going to roll my client back to 1.5.X and not let it patch ever again, and I am not going to buy another product made by, for or in collaboration with these shitheels.
