Illia follower bug

I suppose this one is for modders and developers alike,

I know I'm not the only person with this problem and would appreciate further confirmations of this problem.

Illia, a mage who can be hired as a follower after a short quest at Darklight Tower, South East of the world, near Riften, cannot be rehired after she is dismissed. I doesn't matter if you dismiss her right away or if she's dismissed due to a quest. She just cannot be rehired. While she does respond with "Yes" and "How can I help you?" there is no dialog with her anymore.

Please confirm if you have this problem as well, she's an EPIC follower and it'd be great if someone could resolve this bug, modder or developer.

Thanks for reading

K, I just posted this recently but a friend of mine posted this on the steam forums and found a convenient if not waterproof way to fix this bug.

When I mean waterproof, I'm talking about the Companion quest line, several times Illia was forcibly removed as a follower and replaced by one of the rather "useless" companion followers. Talking to Illia again (I followed the advice of my friend and went so far as marrying Illia in game and having her reside in my house in Whiterun), did not allow me to rehire her. Following the instruction again resolves the issue again.

Thanks for this post. Now I can stop worrying about losing her when a quest forces her to be dismissed.

  • 3 months later...

If anyone has still got any problems with not being able to re-recruit Illia simply do the following:

Goto console and type (without quotes):

1. "resetquest dunDarklightQST" (This will start the dungeon quest:Repentance again)

2. "setstage dunDarklightQST 50" (This will complete the quest without having you to play it all over again)

Now exit the console and talk to Illia (You can add her as a follower now)

Atleast it worked for me.
