Skyrim Magic Combat Over Haul suggestions

Hello everyone, here's some suggestions to improve the magic combat in skyrim,

while my only qualification in proposing a good magic system is that i always play as a mage in any game (or anything nearest to a mage) i still hope i can make a few good suggestions.

So: first of all, not much has changed since oblivion, you run in, blast away with your spells, you run out of mana, you run away.

(ignoring spamming mana potions for the moment) this is getting sort of tedious, so i've compiled two sets of modifications that might help remedy this boring situation.

A) No traditional mana , we just chuck it out of the tower and start again, going with the dungeon Siege 3 model.

You have no mana, you use your weaker spells to gain mana, depending on the damage you inflict (made extra weak by the mod, no more one hit killing those undead) and use that mana to unleash your more powerful ones (made even more powerful),

it's a much more dynamic system that encourages the player to use a variety of spells and especially the stronger ones.

Outside of combat your mana would be full, enabling sneak attacks, summoning etc.(as it is now) but as soon as you enter combat the new system would drain you of your mana and it's up to you to survive long enough to start using those op advanced spells.

Round up:

-weak spells cost no mana but instead give you mana, these spells are substantially weakened

-Strong spells cost more mana but are much more powerful (if we could get a cooldown on these as well, that would be great :) (forcing people to use different spells)

-casting time of weaker or defensive spells is severely reduced (since the weaker spells, are, well... weak, firing them in a fast rate will make up for that)

The huge advantage of this system is that you can use magic the whole time, you're no longer hiding behind rock while you mana recharges ,

you cast spells so you can cast more powerful spells!

Imagine kiling a draugr with a stream of firebolts and then using the mana you gained to blast the second one to smithereens with your op chain lighting (or equivalent flashy spell).

the negative is that it would probably be a bugger to mod, i have no modding experience other that installing them, but i don't this this will be simple, or maybe it is for the talented modding scene :) *wink wink*

also, something might have to be done with the shortcuts and spell selection, to enable quick spell changing

B) Suggestion 2: mana managing system:

Basically your weak spell cost is decreased, with stronger spell costing more and more relative to level, Your mana does not regenerate at all until it has run out, then it regenerates at double the speed.

if you start casting any spell while it is regenerating, the regeneration stops until you have run out again. (some safeguard should be put in place so when your mana hasn't run out but it's so low that you can't cast any spell you don't get stuck)

So what happens is that once you have run out of mana, while it regenerating, you have to make the choice, do you wait another second until you can cast your more powerful spell or do you go with the weak one now?

even just decresing the mana pool and increasing the mana regen speed , would significantly change the combat speed,

i'm suggesting this as alternative mostly because of the difficulty of my first suggestion, and i feel that altering some spell and mana pool stats is much simpler that changing the whole system to work in reverse.

(but then again, as i said, i have no idea of modding. This is basically the equivalent to a letter to santa, "i don't know how you're gonna get it, but i want it!"))

so, that it

leave any suggestions and critique , though my contribution is finished and i can't do any of these things myself, it might help any modders.

Thanks for your time, now lets go find ourselves some modders!

ps: for my first suggestion, the way i'm suggesting it, it would only start being progressively awesome after your character has unlocked at least one higher level spell

Finally, please forward this to any modders you know, or don't, if you don't like my suggestions. just someone do something about this blasted magic system!
