Crimsomrider
Greetings, I was wondering if someone experienced with meshes could offer some advice on a little issue I have with model placement in the preview menus. This is from my Pictures Of Remembrance mod, in which I made 44 STATIC pictures, which were originally misc interactable meshes affected by gravity. The vanilla meshes of desktop pictures will always sink halfway through an object when placed via Workshop Mode and since they're affected by gravity, they'll sometimes even sink through objects. Their collision node is placed in the exact center of the mesh and causes issues. So I had to make them a static object in order to prevent them from falling through by replacing the original node with another mesh's static node. My mod is 95% done and the only thing I would like to do before I call it finished, is to re-align the meshes in the preview menu, so that they are not so terribly displaced. As you can see in the image below, the yellow colored node is the one I created (by merging another object through the CBBE Outfit Studio) and then a little bit through NifSkope. The red node is the original vanilla node which caused the object to be affected by gravity and fall through objects. So that is why I had to re-position the node in order for it to snap correctly onto surfaces. But the side effect of doing that is unfortunately the preview model being displaced because the preview system seems to focus on the nodes themselves. I was wondering if there's a way to make the picture be centered in inventory preview, while maintaining the modified collision node. Is it even possible to have the center of the picture sit on the yellow node in the preview menu, while the yellow node would sit on the green mark ? I was thinking of maybe making a preview model as well or tinker with the existing ones. http://i.imgur.com/ArtYnHo.jpg Edited July 13, 2016 by crimsomrider
StuykGaming
Hey dude, might have an answer for you actually! There's two cases on the placement of objects in preview modes. Case 1: Transform (Most Likely This) When an object is assigned a transform that determines how it is previewed in the window. Basically make a new Transform, assign it to the object and see how it turns out. Case 2: CPA (Probably Not This) This is defined as a BS:Connect:Parent thingy in Nifskope.Usually pertains to object snapping and what not. Crimsomrider
Omg thank you so much m8! It's amazing how a simple comment can push someone in the right direction. I had a feeling that it was preview transform and indeed it was. Once you said transform, I immediately went into the CK and created a preview transform for my custom meshes and then I assigned it to all my pictures. They're now perfectly centered. Thank you so much! Edited July 13, 2016 by crimsomrider
