Can't equip a torch with OOO

Background information: I haven't played Oblivion since it was released. Like many, I was disappointed by the default game. Recently (two days ago) I started looking at mods to see what the state of the game was. I was thrilled to see so many great sounding mods. I did a day's worth of research and settled on the following mods to install with my fresh copy of Oblivion:

 

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul

Living Economy

Living Economy Items

Unique Landscapes

 

I installed the following in this order:

 

Oblivion

Oblivion 1.2.0416 patch

OOO 1.3

OOO 1.31 patch

OOO 1.32 RC2 10230

 

And then I fired up a new game.

 

Immediately, two problems:

 

(1) The captain who came to my jail cell with Uriel had only a head (no hair, no body) and her sword.

 

(2) I could not equip the HK torch

 

I'm currently downloading the OOO 1.32 RC53 B patch to see if these issues are cleared up, but from the looks of the readme files it doesn't seem like it.

 

Any advice on what to do?
