Almasy
Before you guys all jump on me for not having used the search feature for similar threads, I want to make it clear that I have. I looked at the stickied tweak guide and used the FPS Optimizer tool, however, my PC seems to run Morrowind almost always around 10fps (outdoors). I have a 1.1Ghz Athlon, 640MB RAM, GeForce4 TI 4600. I've set the AI and visibility settings to their absolute minimum to achieve this 10 fps. I suspect that it is my processor, but don't think it should be this bad. Any comments/help? ohGr
first of all, looking at your computer specs, play it at 1024x768, try turning off the pixel shaders on the options menu in the start up thing, stop all unneccecary background programs, and if that fails, try re-installing, or if all fails, back up everything, and format, itll do your computer a big favor, i just did that 2 nights ago, and morrowind went from 13fps outside to 18fps outside, which is why im playing it again, but, i have a friend with a geforce fx go on his laptop, and morrowind runs the same, i got the new drivers for him, 40.?? and it ran smoothly, it chugged a little when it rained and we were at a dock, but try the drivers first. Strutski
yah drivers but I noticed a significant improvement when I upgraded my SOUND card interestingly, I guess some tasks are taken off the CPU's hands with better audio hardware also reading up on what "bus mastering" means suggests this is another way for peripheral devices to directly access RAM again taking a some work away from the CPU so look to enable bus mastering in your motherboard bios... worth a try.
