jeffrobot
I like the companion aspect. It would definitely be cool to set up getaways for yourself, and also be able to put stuff in the horses inventory. I've done a sliver of 3D game development, but never worked with Gamebryo so am not sure how tricky this would be.
NexusLog
Up! And yes, ability to whistle the horse would be great.
Kairo29
Im wondering how feasible any of the ideas are. Glad a few others would be interested in some of these things :)
CampanaAliquanta
1) Agree that saddlebags would be useful 2) & 16) I'd like to be able to stable the horse at a stable (maybe by talking to the NPC and paying a fee, so that it's looked after until you come back to collect it), or park it with an innkeeper (ditto). In the wild I'd like to give it a nosebag and a horse blanket to have to make it stay put, without which it might wander off. 3) The horse in the game can jump but there is a delay between it jumping and you asking it to jump - which is actually sort of realistic. IRL when jumping over a high obstacle horses shorten their gait, slow down and wait for a signal from their rider to jump. An animation that replicates this would be cool - if you press space bar on a horse, it shortens its gait for a few seconds, then touching the space bar again makes it jump. Going backwards, yes, but only at a walk. 7) Having your companion ride pillion would be cool (mine always gets left behind somewhere). 10) Would be handy sometimes, but not too bothered about this. 12) I'd like four gaits - walk, trot, canter and gallop. I'd also like it if nudging the W key starts it walking continuously, and each time you press W it moves to a faster gait (and vice versa with the A key). To go instantly to full gallop you could double tap W or press W + shift. This would be the equivalent of kicking your heels against its side, or reigning it in. 13) Definitely want FPV on horseback! 15) Yes, multiple breeds would be great. Additional: I'd like to own multiple horses (particularly if different kinds of horses are in the game)
mjattie
Also not having the horse go glider whenever you jump off a cliff.

Kairo29
Thanks for the additions, guys! Updated OP again. I really like the nosebag and the blanket idea, Campana, its a good visual indicator that your horse is in "park" mode. I also like your suggestion about the horse movement controls. That looks like it'd work just fine.
Sanbru
Actually..my horse did the opposite of what the OP did. My horse saw me fighting a dragon, had left it in another town. It came back, saw the fight..and I kid you not turned around and trotted off to safety. lol
Kairo29
LOL your horse is smart! Where'd it get its degree?! The school of hard knocks probably. Majoring in "Every m'f'er for themselves".
khbazur
The horse can walk and run as default. To make the horse gallop press the sprint key.
