My buddy challenged me to make a "Catmeat" follower for Fallout 4. Essentially, put the "cat" skin on the "Dogmeat" skeleton and make it a follower.

I am pretty sure this is way out of my league:

I've poked around in the Creation Kit, and couldn't combine Dogmeat and Catmeat in any feasible way

I extracted the animation files and examined them in Nifskope.

I couldn't even open any of the HKX files in Blender.

 

Just in case I am getting discouraged too easily, is it easy for the novice to go in and attach the node points of one .nif to the bones of a similar but different skeleton.nif? Or is this just crazy talk?
