ACrazyGuy Posted November 19, 2011 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Here are just some ideas for you modder that could be integrated in a magic overhaul mod. Reduce the magicka cost of most spell, especially destruction and the wards spell in the restoration school. Make the damage of these spells increase as your skill grow. Increase the damage of most destruction spell. Reduce the number of spells of the same type. Ex, for destruction: A "flamethrower" type of spell, the bolt spell and the surround spell. Add cool effect on the overcharge instead of just increasing the damage. Exemple:The overcharged flamethrower could create a wall of flame where it hit.The overcharged bolt effect could become an AoE attack.The surround spell single cast could become the cloak of <element> spell and the overcharged could be the real surround.Etc for every school, using the destruction school as exemple. The ward absorb perk should give back way more magicka and ward in general should be better. It's not even profitable for me to keep a ward up to block spells as it costs so much magicka, I just move out of the way instead. More summons for the summoner and necromancer, maybe an "army of the dead" like ability? Add spells that gives you a feeling that they are extremely dangerous to cast, but very powerful. Ex: A death spell, if the target is below X hp or below X% of HP, instant kill (with some nice effect of course :P), but, has some nasty effect on you, Drain X amount of HP for Y seconds, completly drain stamina bar, reduce your magicka to 0 if it fails, has a chance to backfire, etc. Remake the unlock spell from Oblivion?, I know it makes the lockpicking skill a bit useless, but it's a single player, don't have to use it if you don't want to or if it doesn't seem to fit with your character. Give Alteration more use than shield and paralyse effect, Ex: turn your opponent into stone, slow them down, turn their weapons into a flower, make their armor weight X10... Sorry for my bad english, it's not my birth language.And remember, these are only ideas, some of them may seems overpowered, but the tricks is just to balance them out with negative effect or restriction on their uses. Hope you don't mind me dumping one of mine here, since it seems to fit in with your post title and I don't want to clutter up the forum: Would love it if someone could mod the Frostbite spell so that it actually freezes water, so it forms a sheet of ice to walk on.
