Recommended combat mods

I'm looking for combat improvement mods, for both melee and archery. Deadly Reflex and Unnecessary Violence (2) seem a bit heavyweight, so I was wondering if there was anything lighter people could recommend.

I'm also looking for mods for unarmoured and better hand-to-hand combat for monk-type characters. For unarmoured combat I've found Galerion Unarmored Acrobatics and the much newer Unarmored Dodge and Armor Skill Bonuses. Haven't found many hand-to-hand improvement mods though; most of them are just animation replacers.

All right, lets try this again.

I currently have Francesco's mod with its MOBS integration and combat AI tweaks, along with MMM and its weapon damage tweaks and wound effects.

I've decided that what I'm mainly looking for is something that makes the timing of attacks and blocks more important (so, either no button mashing or improved button mashing) and something that makes recoil and staggering less annoying. I've found a few candidate mods:

Better Blocking - Makes blocking negate all damage, with success based on several factors.

Block Parry and Cancel Attack v2 - Blocks can negate all damage if timed correctly (parrying) and it's possible to cancel power attacks. I'm not sure from the description if parrying applies to all blocks or only weapon blocks.

Doc Block Recoil Stagger - Chance and length of stagger when hit is based on the target's and attacker's stats and actions.

Better Timed Blocking - Based on Better Blocking, but based entirely on timing.

As for hand-to-hand improvement, I've found Mike Tysons Punch Out, which simply scales up health and fatigue damage so that at high levels unarmed attacks are equivalent to Daedric daggers. There's also SM Hand Combat which scales up fatigue damage, lets gauntlets improve damage and blocking, and adds the chance of your touch spells getting activated when you hit.

Your thoughts? :geek:

Honestly, deadly reflex is not that heavy of a mod. You can turn off finishers completely if you want and it incorporates well the idea that block timing is essential. Just use V5 as v6 was never really updated and seems to be riddled with bugs. If your still wary i think Block Parry and cancel attack is still a good choice.

As for archery I like Duke Patricks Combat Archery. It increases general bow and arrow damage whilst giving bow sway when moving, limiting arrows in a quiver, allows you to denock an arrow and more.

As for hand to hand, I have no clue as Ive never played that way to begin with.
