dirtyklingon
i have small list of fairly simple mods i'd like to tailor make to my own wants and needs. i see some mods out there that acheive similar goals to what i want to do, such as changing spell values or perks. i am curious about how this is being achieved and what tools are being used. i was speculating either the FO3 GECK or the oblivion construction set were being used, as has been hinted at. if so, which one, and is there some kind of tricks or tips to using either of these? what other tools are there for basic modding to start out with until the CK goes live? and is there anything a newbie modder should know about using them? thanks for any help with these questions. Mansh00ter
You can do simple mods using FO3 TesSnip (bundled with the FOMM), but beyond changing some global game setting variables you won't be able to do much. Useful if you want to snoop around Skyrim.esm before the Creation Kit is out. It is also possible to get a good look at the .esm structure using FNVEdit, but I hadn't had much luck using it to actually edit stuff. You can also extract data from the .bsa archives and do replacement mods, for example change textures. That's all I can think of for now.

NewmanLim
I tried TESSnip which all I can do is change simple data (name, models and equip type(weapons)) of the game, does anyone here know how to change the ID, I copied a weapon but changes it's attribute, somehow I can't seem to change it's ID to something else, therefore having 2 same ID, it kinda crashes the game, I also dunno how to create an esp file too, therefore everything done it overwrites the esm files......anywhere TESSnip ain't that worth to try unless you know how to read "hex" code, I'm still experimenting and I hope modders here can help me with it~Thnx
