Campaigner
My Nifskope is up to date, and my BSA unpacker...every one I could find. I can only get the meshes to unpack, but when I try to view it in Nifskope, it simply says that it cannot open the file. When trying to unpack the textures, I get a sort of crash, saying something happened, and asking if I want to continue with the problem or not. Regardless of answer, the BSA stops unpacking textures after the first texture. How can I view the models and unpack the textures properly? Vannus
I'm using the BSA Browser that comes with FOMM and it works perfectly fine. I can explore and extract from all the Skyrim BSAs. As for NifSkope, you can't open meshes in it because it hasn't been updated to yet! There is, however, a way to get around this, but it's experimental and unlikely to work properly. People are working on an updated nif.xml file, and I've managed to open meshes with it, but receive a few nasty looking errors. I fail to see the helpfulness of this at the moment, but considering that there are already some nude mods going around there must be some way of working with it. Now, what do I do with that xml? How do I save it? I've never messed with xml files before.EDIT: Figured out the xml thing. Now, I got a new problem; when I try to edit the textures, the model stays white. I can't see the texture at all, regardless of what file I am looking at, or what texture I change it to. To be blunt, I'm trying to make a quick model for a ghostly draugrgreatsword. The files I've seen that are needed are: The model I want: Data\meshes\weapons\draugr\draugrgreatsword.nifThe Effect I want: Data\meshes\weapons\draugr\draugrmagicsword.nif The effect is in the second file, and is under the "12 BSEffectShaderProperty" branch. Ingame, the second model is used for Ghostblade and Drainheart Blade, and quite simply they are ghostly swords. I want to get that same ghostly effect for the Ancient Nord Greatsword, as that is the only draugr weapon that isn't ghostly. How can I accomplish this? hideouscircus
you`ll need to unpack the textures from the texture bsa file. Nifskope won`t display the textures when they are packaged up like that. Think of the meshes as a blank canvas and the textures as the paint. You need the paint to make a painting. I`m having a similar problem myself ... I`ve unpacked the texture BSA file with FOMM and threw the textures into my DATA<TEXTURES folder, and when I tell nifskope where the textures are nothing seems to work. The meshes stay blank. I`ve got my game installed into program files thanks to steam and I`m wondering if this could be the issue I`m having.
Campaigner
I have already unpacked the BSA for both meshes and textures, and like you, I still have white models despite the textures existing in the proper folders.
throttlekitty
I'm still working on getting textures to display in NifSkope. I don't usually do code, I can't tell if it's because textures are coming from new block types, or because of the new way properties are attached now. If you need to see what you're doing for a retexture, I'd suggest exporting a model as an .obj and into another app, or importing back into an older-versioned .nif structure where familiar methods work. Campaigner
Eh, that's a bit complicated for me. I guess I'll just wait til the updates are official for nifskope. Thanks for the help everyone!
