jw127
I would like to make one that would slightly alter the ending (changing cutscences, music, adding/removing scenes, etc.) Is there specific software I should use? Or is it entirely based on finding and changing lines of code in configuration files? There are some really fantastic mods on this forum, and I would love to know what everyone is using to make their work.
me3deager
Head over to http://me3explorer.freeforums.org and read up. ;) But to give you a head start, you'll be downloading the me3explorer toolset. I've been using the latest beta myself and unless you were go straight into mouth animations, this is a fine version to use.http://me3explorer.freeforums.org/beta-2-0-10-t2426.html The reason I mentioned that you need to read up is because people tend be a bit...frosty over there with new people asking, to us, old questions. I'ts not exactly fair but it is what it is. For what you want to do, I'd recommend reading up these links. This is old, but the basic idea of sequence editing remains the same. But now you can link things, break links, all sorts of awesome stuff in me3explorer itself which makes the task way easier. So ignore all the bits about hex editing and little endian and all that.http://me3explorer.freeforums.org/sequence-modding-t103.html That said, hex editing does seem to always come into play eventually. I use HxD myself. I didn't even understand how a byte was represented when I started and now I'm making new objects, moving them around...whatever. So, it can be learned. This section in general is very useful. You can tell it's always a work in progress since a lot of the stuff is in the research section.http://me3explorer.freeforums.org/modders-research-f49.html Anyway, I have no idea of your technical level but more importantly your personal drive. You'll want to have a pretty passionate drive to mod Mass Effect 3 as it's not exactly easy. But give it a try. Sometimes people figure it's not worth it but ElysiumFic went from knowing as much as you do to making mods faster than I did.
