Dreadarm
I am looking for the highest dmg and the highes dps single-handed weapon in game. Staff do not count and I already know about Mace of Molag'bar. Thank you in advance Skyforge Steal Waraxe untill you can get your hands on ebony. Does more damage than even orc axes. and about the same as the ebony axe. at level 25 i can 3-4 shot Drougr wights with this wep with no enchants. and you only need to put one point into smithing to enhance it. Trey5511
Daedric war axe/mace/sword?
dra6o0n
Blades sword is on par with Skyforge Steel swords, is upgradable to Legendary for like 50+ raw damage, and you can always equip the fortify one-handed enchants on your armor sets to boost it further over 100... But then again that still doesn't make it powerful because melee weapons are rather meh at lv30+, where enemies must take 5 hits to kill... So I made a new character, gave her conjuring capability, but more of a dual blade conjured weapon... Its very strong for it's level cuz it can be upgraded to deal extra damage in the conjuration section, so it adds perks from conjuration and one-handed skills.I think the conjured sword is like ebony sword or daedric sword... If you get the restoration perk that makes 'all spells more effective against undeads' does that make bound sword even stronger? Trey5511
melee weapons are rather meh at lv30+ wut they aren't weak, but there is a better alternative? Edited November 20, 2011 by Trey5511
McMonnell
It would depend on personal preference in terms of weapon type (i.e. Axe, Mace, and Sword) but Daedric weapons probably score the highest on the damage charts. Swords are all about using rapid swings to make up for the their lower damage output than the other two types but perk upgrades make them more likely to score critical hits so the damage output can vary. Axes are the mid-ground in terms of raw damage and with perks can cause lingering 'bleed' damage which varies from 1-3 points of damage every second for 3-6 seconds depending on your rank in the 'Hack and Slash' perk.Maces provide the highest raw physical damage and are better against armoured enemies with points in it's respective perk but swings the slowest of the three types which I've found results in a 'making every hit count' approach to combat. Personally I favour the daedric axe as I tend to be absolutely useless at hitting things in melee combat so in the event I do hit it's good to know I have made some lasting damage on the enemy (plus they look cool imo and I felt they were neglected in Oblivion). Hope this helps!

Hope this helps! Two words:Elemental Fury. Makes your maces swing like daggers. Note that dual wielding maces count's as 'dual wielding' so the speed increases by 35%, which means...Maces are as fast as Axes, and Axes are as fast as Swords, and Swords are as fast as Daggers. And 50% increased damage perk for dual wield power attacks makes it even higher. Armor bypass is ALWAYS a good thing, because at some point those Steel plated freaks are going to be toughie. Yes you sacrifice defense, but work on smithing and make 500+ def armor sets for heavy armor and you are set. Vagrant0
Technically, it doesn't matter much. Most of your damage seems to come from perk multipliers and enchantments. A pair of elven swords worked well for me up into the 30+ range using elemental fury to get extra attack speed. Could just chew through just about everything in my path. Unfortunately it doesn't work with enchanted weapons so have to choose between extra damage from enchantments or silly quick attack speed. If we're talking about a low level character... Foresworn weapons are strong and plentiful if you can get a set, fairly low requirements for their upgrades too.
dra6o0n
Bound Sword works wonders, and it looks cool too!No weight at all and works great if you build a mage/blacksmith character with heavy armor or light armor usage... Just get 500+ armor rating and you can handle most attacks at that point... Conjuration is a little weird because it feels more vital and important than destruction magic... As for restoration... Who the heck even uses Turn Undead? Edited November 20, 2011 by dra6o0n
jjmark
I'd suggest looking into Dawnbreaker, the daedra Meridia's artifact. Her shrine can be found along the road just a little ways outside of Solitude along the main path. Beautiful daedra stat sword, plenty of shine to amuse the shortest of attention spans, and just splendid versus undead (causes an explosion upon killing one and the Eight know how many undead inhabit Skyrim's dungeons). My first time upon the shrine didn't activate the quest, however, but later on activated automatically upon approaching it when I was around level 17, though my first time approaching it was only around level 3 or so. My suggestion would be to explore it everyone 5 levels or so to see when it starts. Note: Fits along with any kind of holy knight style character more than anything.
