Settler Assignment Tokens

I was reading some posts on the fo4 subreddit and saw someone mentioning a scheduling system. First thing I thought was how awesome that would be. Second thing I thought was if it could be done in an intuitive way. Third thing I thought was if it was possible to link NPC behaviors to objects that you build in settlement mode and craft at a workbench. I've been very keen on learning how to make mods myself, but I don't even have any scripting experience, so I'm very limited to what I can do.

I was thinking of having markers that you craft in settlement building mode that would link with objects you craft at a workbench. Settlers will then go through a series of actions defined by which tokens were placed in the inventory.

Maybe better idea: Keep the location markers in the settlement build mode, but only make one token with multiple upgrade slots. The default morning, dinner, sleep behavior can remain the same, but everything in between can be broken up into 1 hour upgrades. The farming upgrade will assign settlers to the farming marker, the cooking upgrade to the cooking marker, and so on.

I am still unsure if this is possible and even if I looked at the script, I would just walk away two hours later with a massive headache. Some insight would be great!
