isnardi2
Hey everyone, I'm a few hours into my first playthrough and I have fought 3 dragons on my 2h/Swords & Board character. My question is, does blocking with either a 2handed weapon or a shield negate any damage from incoming spells and/or dragon breath? I always picture the Knight fighting the dragon and hiding behind his shield while the dragon breaths fire on him but I've tried several times and I still seem to take a lot of damage from both. If it does not, is there a way to improve blocking to stop some/all magic damage? Thanks, Dommer
nic1357890
not by default no, but the Elemental Resistance perk allows you to block 50% of ice, fire, and lightning damage with a shield.

Sure it doesn't block by default? Pretty sure I've seen videos where Frost Dragon's breath has inflicted much less damage while blocking (without the perk). Or are the breaths considered as physical damage?

Well I feel a bit stupid now after spending so much time just standing there and taking that dragon's breath. Next time I'll leave the shield and bring some Altoids. Thanks!
