ShylaEighteen
I'm planning on basically creating a new suit of armor that is from the future and is basically like a mech suit except it's just an armor with extensions. kinda like on mech asault 2, lone wolf. It's Based on a book i am writing so pls don't steal my idea unless you give me the full credit i deserve. It's an armor that is from the future and was built for the past, so it does not run on fuel, but mana, it will require mana from the character to work and in the book if the character runs out of mana then it gets slower and heavier until all of their mana is gone. and it has glowing stripes and engraved enchants that glow a specific tint as the mana goes up or down. but i doubt the power on/off=mana gone/full would be possible. so i have a few questions on it and any helpful and posative feedback will be greatly appreciated. 1. In Blender where is the helmet files? i go to oblivion/data/meshes/armor/steel or iron or anything else and all it has is the full suit without the helmets. 2. In oblivion a torch is a source of light and will glow off of the character and whatever is closest to it. is it possible to make armor have glow spots on it? i'm planning on having blue power stripes on it. kinda like the ones you see on some of the rareish armors in the mmo Hellgate London. a. i realize i can not make each vein glow seperately to the point that if you are by the wall it will reflect a blurr of the glow veins. But if it would be possible just to have them glow (mainly in the dark) to the point that it glows on nearby objects and the face and such then that would work. 3. I highly doubt this question is worth asking, but the armor in my book, the helm is supposed to look futuristic of coarse and it is supposed to be able to have the armor around the mouth close up so that you can see his/her face whenever the person is not in battle. it's somewhat similar to the mouth shield that optimus prime has in the movie transformers 2007. So is something like this even feasable in this game. I mean it's kind of on the bottom of the must have list for this mod, seeing as how you hardly ever look at the face when fighting to see the full helm in action. but it would be nice 4. the suit is supposed to be about 9ft tall, and a bit more bulky then the body meshes that oblivion or other mods provide. is it possible to raise the scale on the suit of armor to that point so that the character looks like they are standing on stilts and have extended arms but the same size head/helm 5. This one i know is possible, but if i wanted to make a skill that you can only use when in the suit, such as some sort of laser from the hands, but once again you can't use it when the suit is off, then how would i do this? 6. Is it possible to have the footweight of 'the' character sound a lot more heavy like the gate keeper or something, but once again have it only have that footweight when the armor is on? 7. what kind of extent is their to animating armor? such as: a. making a jump jet animation (fire comes out of the back for a few seconds) b. making the right arm transform from a hand to a cannon and vissa versa. Bottom of to do list c. once again the whole mouth mask question. d. Making The armor open up when getting in and out of it from the back, kindof like a mount scenario that last one is the very bottom of the to do list 8. Is it possible to make a sword and Bow/gun (undecided) that can only be used by that armor since they are larger and heavier then normal weapons. at the same time how would i make the other weapons in oblivion not work with the armor. i could just make the hand cover like half of the swords or something but that is another on the bottom of the list. 9. also is it possible to make the sword almost have a slot in the chest armor (back side of coarse) that is a perfect fit for the future istic weapons. and or a clamp that you can slide the blade into and will look empty when the sword is gone, instead of on oblivion where the weapons are magically attached to the back with no straps or anything. 10. things i know how to do and will most likely apply. i'm debating on making the armor an inventory item or a companion item such as a mount (horse/dragon/etc) but if i do make the armor inventory equipable then i am going to make it reasonably heavy since it will be as heavy as it would in real life, and not just a quarter inch of steel around the body. The armor is intended to look like a hero's armor, but at the same time the texture and shading could be considered an evil suit as well. basically it will be some shade between silver and dark grey, i just plan on experimenting with the shades once i have it fully working in 3d. it will have blue stripes and engraved enchantments on it and that is the part i wish could glow, but if not i might just make a reasonably light blue color so that it looks like it's glowing even though it's not reflecting light off of the face or sword or such. if i get good with all this stuff i might make another suit of armor, same concept (size, weight, strength etc.) but different texture, but this time it will be more of an evil kind of look, and possibly a different mesh then the first one adding spikes, red glowing stripes and engraved enchantments, blood stained and what not. I don't intend on making hydrolics or any kind of animation, movement wise, that would be different from the normal armor. so that should erase that question. Once again thanks for any and all feedback. pls be constructive and not say it's not possible or whatever. anyone willing to help me out as much as they possibly could, will be included in the credits. I know this will take a lot of work, determination, headaches, neck pains, tears of joy and what not but I AM determined to get this finished. Abramul
Oblivion does support glowmaps. So glowy bits are possible, although I'm not sure how you get them working. As for the color switching and stat changes, it should be possible to have several different sets, each with its own stats and mesh variants*, that are swapped out when specific magicka reserve thresholds are crossed. This will cause message spam, although this can be suppressed. The magicka drain could be done via enchantments, although this would not allow fractional points-per-second drains per piece. Not sure what the regen rate is. Also, enchantment effects may not bypass resistance. *Only difference between the meshes would be the texture applied. On second thought, it might be desirable for the magicka drain to be greater than most characters' regeneration rates. This'd make people need to carry 'fuel' supplies in order to get the best use of the armor during combat.

Ghost03
Well, you could make the armor have a "Stunted Magicka" effect along with "Drain Magicka xx points" Because, even if the drain is higher than the regan, you'll still have to configure magicka regan (IIRC, your magicka regan increases as your willpower does)
ShylaEighteen
thanks again for all the help anyone. so does anyone know if it's possible resize the armor so that the character is in a 9ish foot suit but it's only the suit that size? ShylaEighteen
so i started my project today in blender using the basic chest armor tutorial in cs wiki. i uploaded all of the male body components but i don't have a skeleton.nif file from the data/meshes/character/_male + skeleton.nif. i searched other files for it and it's not their. i even tryed to type in the data/meshes/character/_male/skeleton.nif but when i typed skeleton it only wrote skele and made a new file callled skele. pls help me. i think for now i will work on making some of the weapons and things that don't require too much skeleton playing around since i can't find the body meshes. p.s. if anyone know how to make an object such as a weapon have it's own light source then please tell me.also if anyone knows how to do the same for armor then please tell me.
