Movies at the Drive-In

This would probably be difficult to do, but it would be sick to project movies on the drive-in screen... you could have a designated folder to store maybe a few movies, then when you're at the drive-in, you could select a movie from your pip boy...maybe add a film grain texture to it or black and white... possible?

Its not impossible, its just that I can already see the numerous legal issues with displaying copyrighted movies on a drive-in screen in Fallout

Movies is not as easy as music when it comes to legal use and copyright

The user would put their own movies in the "movie" folder offline... no actual movies would be downloaded from Nexus, it could be made to play any video you want

this idea could also go for TV's

No, not going to work. The problem is inherent in the game engine - it only supports DDS texture files and nothing else. The various TV mods can only display small snippets of animation, otherwise the file sizes get really large really fast because DDS as a format does not support any animation and each "frame" is either a small part of a huge DDS file or its own separate DDS file.

There's a mod for video on the televisions and an additional plug-in for video at the Starlight Drive-In!

The mod is called Videos of the Wasteland, find it here - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11448/?

However, you can't just stick a video file into a folder to make it play. Fallout4 doesn't work like that, it's a bit more complicated.

The mod author of VotW has provided a handy set of tutorial videos on his youtube page https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrcphHVd80t3awfApuyKhHg - in the video tab.

Watch those if you want to know how to add video.

@Reneer, technically what you said about only being able to play small snippets is incorrect. The hard-coded limitation on video length for a single (video) holotape is 6 minutes, 49 seconds and 6 milliseconds. You just have to spread the content over a number of holotapes. With 8 holotapes, you can get roughly 35-40 minutes of footage.
