Is Illusion Worthless?

So I'm thinking of making a mage that focuses on conjuration and illusion. I looked up the illusion spells and it seems the Master level spells top out against opponents level 25 or lower. Does anyone know if this scales with your level? I intend on being higher than 25 for a good chunk of the game.

Thanks in advance!

Other than Invisibility, there's better things to spend your magicka on than Illusion spells. To answer your question, yes, that is where they top out, and they don't scale with level. A strong focus in Conjuration is much more worthwhile.

You'll need other abilities to work with it. I imagine going stealth + dagger could work well in combo with your muffle + invisibility, as would light armor in case you get caught / don't manage to kill em with your ambush.

Conjuration seems like an odd choice to go with it, but I guess they can create openings / distractions so you can sink your dagger in their backs somewhere painful.

Illusion perks increase that level of usefulness. They are far from useless, they are fantastic crowd control devices and a conjuration/illusion mage would work rather well. All I would recommend is to also acquire some destruction skill so as to not make yourself completely helpless against things that resist your illusion spells. However, late game (with the tree maxed out), Illusion will work on basically everything.
