Crashing at loading screens - run out of memory?

Hi. A few days ago I started getting those loading screen crashes. I know there is a lot about that on the forums already, but my problem seems to be more specific.

The problems started after I downloaded a bunch of animation mods (it was running like a charm before that). I installed some of them (everything was fine and I got them working), but as soon as I quit the game and got back in I couldn't load any of the saves as it would crash roughly after 5-10 seconds. I decided to re-install both Skyrim and mods. I also got rid of the mods I didn't use much to make sure thing will work fine... and they did until 2 days ago. I installed some FNIS based mods like (Idles etc) and the game crashed the first time. I was still able to load previous saves, but once I saved it again and quit it all started again. I tried everything. Papyrus cannot find anything, load order is ok, I updated FNiS after every animation install and cleaned mods with TES5Edit - Nothing worked. However, every time I restart my laptop (yes, I play on a laptop) I can load my my saves with no problem which is weird. All the mods I have installed prior to the crash work fine too. Sometimes when I uninstall some of the lesser mods I make it work as well.

Maybe someone had similar issues and found a solution. Reinstalling the game and mods again is my last resort

Hello,

  • Make sure your specs can handle what you're asking.
  • Make sure you're using the good mods >> Dangerous mods list.
  • Make sure you're using the latest USLEEP > v 3.0.4 now.
  • Verify gamecache.
  • Mahe sure you gave ran the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe after installing FNIS mods.
  • You may try to disable your mods by chunk of 20 and try to reproduce the crash in the same manner it happened.
  • CTDs troubleshooting page on Reddit. depending on what's happening in game, choose the subsections that describe the best your problem.

Here is a list of important things that may help to stabilize your game :

/// Load order / mods conflicts :

/// Cleaning and correcting potential bugs :

  • Clean your master files to eliminate potential problems : Gopher's videos cleaning your masterfiles on the Nexus Tesedit page.
    Start Tes5edit, simply untick everything, (right-click/select none) and add only a tick to the esm/esp you want to check + update.esm, Tesedit knows what to do and will load all the dependencies automatically.
    - Begin with loading only Skyrim + update, ITM / UDR + save ctrl +s and close.
    - Then load Skyrim + update + Dawnguard, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close.
    - Then load Skyrim + update + Hearthfire, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close.
    - Then load Skyrim + update + Dragonborn, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close.
  • The method above can be used to clean mods. LOOT should tell you which plugin you should clean.

/// Settings / memory :

  • Have you installed the skse patch ? >> memory blocks log.
  • Backup your ini files and delete the files. Skyrim.ini / SkyrimCustom.ini / SkyrimPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\My Games\Skyrim then use your vanilla launcher to autodetect and use best settings for your computer.

/// Save game :

/// Meshes healer :

  • Read here, this is potentially a cause of CTD that you can resolve by following the mod procedure on this page.

Hope this helps.
