theofilos
Hello everyone. I know there are mods to modify your running and jumping already but I was looking for something more realistic and evolving just like your character. If they could be implemented back into the game as skills you could improve them in time and make your character feel better, one way would be to bond for example acrobatics with stealth as an example! It's not the same thing with a mod that will just give you the best jump possible from the start in a lvl 10 char! If it was too hard to implement maybe a good solution would be to tie those skills with your level. For example you get +5 into athletics and acrobatic values with every level! As you would grow more powerful in the game you would advance in running and jumping too! Of course there needs to be find a formula to what the increase should be and what the maximum should be. I don't want to be superman like :). Just something that will reach Oblivion's skills. I really hope you will like this idea and some one would like to make a mod like this! I would be glad to help with testing or ideas too! As a fan of using the enviroment to fight with stealth moving in and out fast or doing hit and running with the bow this style of play got completely ruined in Skyrim :( Thank you for reading! Mehcrim
Have to say I at first voted no without reading your post as I hated the fact you had to jump around constantly in Oblivion in order to level up acrobatics, and athletics just felt like the game was giving me levels for wasting my time running around. Having said that I just changed my vote to yes after reading, as I think slightely increased movespeed each level would be fun, even though you would never notice (perhaps a bigger increase every 5 levels would work well?). I also feel increased jump height at higher levels would be nice to have, but I wouldn't like the have to jump around in order to level it, just ruins the game for me. Last thing is jump height just got silly in Oblivion when your arobatics was near 100, would be nice to have the maximum a little less ridiculous then that. Yes I agree with you that it's better to implement by level or you could just tie it with another skill up maybe stealth or light amor or unarmored(could be created for this purpose)? Well if some one was willing to make this mod I would gladly help him change it to more realistic values. Maximum value should be high for both in a midly realistic manner :) this is a game after all. But let's not forget these are valued for certain types of characters. For example some sort of unarmored character or light armor maximum! It should be something that will be wanted for this type of style play. Of course if some one wants to go GOD MODE he can just get some of the mods out there that put jumping to insane ammounts straight in! But my purpose is how to implement back those 2 skills even better than Oblivion!
nandchan
+1, but not as separate skills - I was so relieved when Acrobatics was removed in Skyrim so I could get used to *not* bunny hopping around.
theofilos
Yes! As you see I dont suggest jumping around as a bunny at all! On the other hand giving you the max value on running and jumping from level 1 would be not much fun! If we slowly each level reach it, it would feel great as you would feel levelling up becoming indeed better at them. Of course we could tie it with an affiliated skill so the slow mage would not be able to get them if we need a restrictor!
necKros
I'm in, simply for the reason of adding more depth, not only to your playstyle, but NPC. Not everyone should run at the same speed. I could see an 'athletibatics' feature rigged to the body mass variable, giving skinny characters more speed and/or acrobatics, and then compensating more muscular characters with, perhaps, more strength or health. PS: I bunny hop a lot.
theofilos
Exactly my point of view. Not everyone has to be a running and jumping god! But some styles of play really need it! I like to play a wood elf or khadjiit with no armor and just a bow or dagger. I have to run around and jump and use the enviroment to maximize my chances. With those skills disabled I am literally food for any heavy hitter since I can no longer bring the fight to my favor. I am forced to stand and use shield etc. This is resulting to LOSS of roleplaying in the end.
theofilos
Could a modder inform us if this is possible to make without the creation kit?
theofilos
Another solution I came up with that will be easier to use is put a fixxed ammount of athletics and acrobatics per level preassigned. e.g. lvl 1 5 athletics 5 acrobatics lvl 2 10 athletics 10 acrobatics so that when you level up you instantly have the increase. The numbers are randoms since we can NOT use skills and just have a modifier to the running and jumping attributes.
necKros
Could a modder inform us if this is possible to make without the creation kit?We don't have enough magika to use that spell. Sorry, without the CK we can barely see, let alone change any engine data. Edited November 21, 2011 by necKros
