How to download Nexus Mod MANAGER

Hi new to the forum and I hope I am not starting off with a noob question but I have tried to download Nexus Mod Manager twice now and everything seems to go okay until it needs to verify the files locations on my computer and the screen it comes up with at the beginning to me is confusing as it is asking for at least 3 files locations and if they are okay, I am assuming it has picked the right locations so I click continue and then it comes back with an error message saying something along the lines of it could not get write permissions for a certain file, would not have a clue what it was asking for.

It also says the best way around the error was to take a certain file out of the location it was currently in and put it outside of that location for it to work, again not a clue what it is saying, I thought downloading this Mod manager was supposed to be easy, what am I doing wrong and can someone explain what I have to do in layman terms.

Thanks

sounds like a permission problem

advice from mod experts is "don't install nexus mod manager and fallout 4 on drive c as the write permissions can be annoying and cause problems installing mods"

its recommended by modding guides to install fallout 4 and NMM to another drive

if your want to install NMM on drive c you need to make sure to run it as administrator

Thanks moddinggamer66

I am pretty sure all the info is on my F drive not c if that is the case then which drive, if not c, should I put it in also if I remember when I first downloaded NMM I tried to put it in another drive but I kept getting other errors, so I gave up.

Then a few days ago I thought I would try again and that is when I got the same error message and hence the post to this forum, surely it can't be this hard to download a program, I do know that when I tried to download a few days ago it told me it could not do it automatically because of some problem on their site and that I had to do it manually which is where I then trip up when it starts asking me to put it into different drives and put in different pathways, is there not some info I can access that explains it all from a laymans point of view.
