Logiwink
Allowing the Dragonborn to take over Skyrim with the Blades at his back is a cool idea - but it seems really ambitious for this mod. I see this mod evolving in stages as my skills get better - step one, Sky Haven as a player home with crafting and shopkeeper. Step two, added in Paarthurnax dialog options. Step three, beta implementation of Reforging the Blades questline. Since it's going to be my first mod I'd like to have it as self-contained as possible (e.g. modified sky haven temple and new custom locations for quests with add-ons to existing character dialog as needed for other quests). My plan is to start simple and build out from there. Of course if someone else then wants to take my work and build out from it I'm not going to say no :) I like the idea of "Dragon Hunter for Hire" there already is some of this with the Steward "Go kill this dragon" radiant story quests, but it would be cool to do something similar as part of the Blades. Also, a training citizens to fight dragons quest might be cool - kind of like the Big Town quests in Fallout 3... As far as Ulfric - well it's clear that the rebellion questline is designed so that neither side is 100% right. For me it was a lesser of two evils thing. The Empire was clearly broken and not going to stand up to the Thalmor, so I supported the only people who were willing to do so. Doesn't mean I like Ulfric. Seriously, my favorite part of playing Skyrim is running into Thalmor and telling them "Yep, you caught me, I worship Talos." And then lighting-bolting the everliving cr*p out of them! Which is why this mod will include several quests to clear Thalmor safehouses and strongholds. Oooh, maybe there could be a dungeon in Sky Haven Temple and we could keep Thalmor prisioners..... Also, Blades-style Light Armor and Mage Robes are an absolute must! Edited November 22, 2011 by Logiwink
Draco856
We need some good dragons as well, and since I all ready killed Paarthurnax so I could take over as the most powerful Dovah anyway, I'm good with that, we could use some way of telling the Greybeards about how evil Paarthurnax was and how he was going to be the next Alduin, etc, to get them back on our side, and show them some of the errors of their ways. They were useful in their own ways in helping me find words of power, maybe we could find a way to do that with the Blades, maybe a rouge Greybeard could come and join the Blades to help the player. Logiwink
Rogue greybeard is an interesting idea...I think most of them are pretty devoted to Paarthurnax so I doubt you could convince them ALL that he was a bad apple.
Draco856
I doubt the 4 in High Hrothgar would do that, but I'm sure there has to be at least 1 dissenter among them that never fully trusted the dragon.
Logiwink
Or maybe a former student who's gone his own way... like Ulfric
Draco856
Ulfric, in my opinion, should have never have been taken for training...he was too headstrong and too bloodthirsty to be a man of peace like the others. He has misused the voice for his own goals.
Logiwink
So I'm starting to recruit interested people - may have a line on a 3D artist from the forum posts, anyone else who's interested in contributing post with skills/preferences and ideas for what you'd like to work on in the Mod. I'm pretty serious about this, but this will also be my first mod, so anyone with experience is a welcome addition. Ultimately, I'd like to be acting as an central manager with my content focus on making Sky Haven Temple a base and the main questline framework. I forsee other individuals taking on designing/putting together specific missions, art resources like 3D models/textures, or a different fork of the major questline. If someone has experience with voice acting/audio engineering that could also get farmed out. A bit about me so you know who you're getting into a project with: I'm a MD/PhD student studying molecular biology in Maryland, USA. I am somewhat busy but do have time to devote to this project. I have experience with professional writing, collaborative science projects, troubleshooting, etc. More than anything my forte is learning quickly. I'm a longtime gamer who got into the Elder Scrolls with Oblivion and have played Fallout and New Vegas. I have used produced mods on all three games and am anxious to make a contribution to the mod community that has given me so much. For project collaborators most project collaborations will be conducted online but I'm also open to real-life interactions (phone, etc.) and planning meetings if you live in the Maryland/Pennsylvannia/DC/New Jersey area. Thanks for your interest!
Kairo29
I'd love to help with story and script writing for this mod if you needed it. :) Sounds fun and I do stuff like that as a hobby.
FalloutFreak123
Awesome ideas here, but I would like to say that the Septim bloodline is non-existent. You can't find it, because it doesn't exist, at least not the bloodline descendant from Uriel Septim VII. That ended when Martin sacrificed himself in the Oblivion Crisis. Therefore, neither is the player the lost descendent of Uriel Septim VII. Just trying to clear that up. I think Uriel's cousin or someone took the throne after Martin's death, but his line was not blessed by the divines with Dragon blood. Dragon blood is not a fully hereditary trait. It can be granted by the divines to whomever they see fit. But yeah, I definitely thought the blades needed a lot of work. It would also be neat if you could recruit more than just 3. I want to build them into my own private army, damnit! XD Perhaps also have a choice: Once you finish all the Blades quests (if you've done them before the civil war quests) you can make them join a side in the war, or stay neutral. I think they'd gravitate toward fighting with the Stormcloaks against the Thalmor, but they are the Blades, so the Empire is in their blood. It would take some convincing either way by the player. Maybe after you're done with the Blades, you can do this kind of thing with the Companions, Thieves' Guild, and the College of Winterhold too? I'd love you for it.
