antiquatedlace
I'm trying to get a couple hairs added to the FCO custom races. I tried just wryebashing it together, as I did last time a few years ago, but didn't get very far in that-- I can only get wryebash to do magic on accident I guess! When I open the data window in the GECK, the only ESM/ESPs that show up are the official game, DLC, and the Bashed patch-- nothing in between, which I'm sure makes sense, but it's been a while since I've messed with New Vegas so I'm just like... how do I select certain mods? Is there no way to? It's no big loss if I can't figure it out but it'd be great if I could just get this one hair to work on the one race I'm going to play. Any help would be amazing. uhmattbravo
Are you using MO? Mods installed through MO aren't stored in the data folder so you wouldn't be able to see them in GECK unless you run GECK through MO.
dubiousintent
Wrye Flash is based upon Wrye Bash, but the two are not (currently) identical. There are some differences in record types and it's possible WF can't detect and deal with hair records. (Don't know for sure.) Have you tried to use "Bash Tags" to make your desired hairs the "winners"? An alternative to using a Wrye Flash Bashed Patch for this purpose is a manually created "merge patch" file to resolve record level hair conflicts manually. See S.T.E.P. Merging Plugins Guide which covers both approaches. (Use of "Mod Organizer" is not required.) Use the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide to quickly get functional with "Wrye Flash", which I think is the easier approach for a novice modder. You can also use a BP and then create a "merge override patch file" with only the records you want to override the BP results. The wiki article "Merged *Plugin Guidelines for Personal Use" is a supplement to the STEP Guide which also applies to a "merged patch". It includes a link to an FNVEdit script that tells you what Bash Tags are applicable to a mod, but you have to exercise judgement about which to employ. -Dubious-
antiquatedlace
@uhmattbravo - I AM using MO, so that is probably where my problem lies. Can you elaborate on using GECK thru MO? @dubiousintent - I'm using Wrye Flash. I'm going to read through all those links. The hair ESP does have a "hair" bashed tag, so I don't fully know why it's not working. Should I maybe tag "Fallout Character Overhaul" with a hair bashed tag to get them to communicate?Since I used the S.T.E.P. guide to mod New Vegas, I do have the Merge Plugins program, so hopefully I can use one of the three techniques to get this last mod working. uhmattbravo
Up in the top right, there should be a drop down box that says New Vegas (or NVSE, or 4gbnv if you're using something like that) if you click it, you may have GECK already on there (though mine's listed as Construction Kit). If you do, just click it then click the run button. MO will lock and the program will start. If you don't, use the <edit...> option, type in geck then click the "..." Button after binary and redirect it to your geck.exe. same thing for the "start in" part except you just need to point it at the folder that the .exe's in. Then press the "add" button. Then just select it from the drop down list and click run. You could also do the same for WF which may solve the problem you had with that as well.
