Deleted2039153User
I'm not sure about online-only, but it makes it so that you have to launch it through Steam. It won't launch with an edited .exe either, thus the LAA issue (which, yes, has been addressed at the link I provided). So they fixed it to where we can use LAA on the game again even though it runs it through Steam? If so, I'll actually let it update.

Currently, (s)he's uploaded it to Megaupload but will put it on Skyrim Nexus when it's been tidied up.
deama
Didn't it always require Steam? At least to install, ect? My thoughts too. I assume s/he hasn't played it yet, or :pirate: I got the retail one

I assume s/he hasn't played it yet, or :pirate: The issue isn't that it required Steam, but that it required Steam to run. Before, you could install it through Steam, and then uninstall Steam and still play. You can no longer do that, and that's the complaint (and it's a legitimate one, since you never agree to use Steam to play games in any of the ToS you agree to). nandchan
Things like this is why PC gaming is dying. At least we have mods to make up for all of the DRM and forced piracy (who wants to play with so many restrictions? I'd rather buy the game then crack it just to play normally). MrTastix
This is one of the reasons I downloaded a crack for the game that bypasses Steam completely. That, and I have no internet access at home so I can't install/activate the game through Steam to begin with. It's a pointless change but not truly suprising. I've never played a Steam game that's never not needed Steam to run. All my Steam-based games have needed Steam to install them and then play them (in offline mode or not). I don't like this new addition to the game anymore than others don't, but I never liked the fact that Bethesda gave in to Steamworks to begin with. I assume s/he hasn't played it yet, or :pirate: You are absolutely wrong. You were able to run skyrim with the TESV.exe without starting Steam at all. You have to registrate skyrim once with steam for installation but until the 18mb patch everything was ok.
