trollmar
Hey all. I need some help. I installed and played skyrim right after it came out. I was able to use high/ultra settings using an hd 6870 and it was amazing. Well the graphics card was new and it ended up failing so I sent it back to Newegg for a replacement. Well... while I was waiting for the replacement I threw in my old 4000 series AMD card and messed around for a little bit for fun. I made sure to set the graphics to low so it would at least run. But now I just got the replacement 6870 and I cannot get the game to play at high settings. I have tried high/ultra/ custom settings but it will NOT switch back from the uber low settings that I put it on to play with my old 4600 card. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the amd drivers but nothing seems to matter. I reverted to the original pref.ini file from the fresh install. Nothing will shake my game out of the nasty preferences. Do I have to reinstall the game or something??? Please help I was looking forward to some epic gaming over thanksgiving but this is something I should not have to deal with.
PowderdToastMan
it detects and records your gpu in your ini Try creating a vanilla ini and running the launcher and it should re-detect your new card. To create new ini, remove everything from your save games folder including your ini's to a temp folder on your desktop. Then run the launcher. It should detect your new gpu. Then start a new game and save. Then place your save games only back in your save games folder.
