Ok answer me this and things might become clear

in a vanilla fallout 3 my games folder is there supposed to be:

An INI file named FALLOUT.ini

an INI file named FalloutPrefs.ini

also becuse I have no idea what's going on anymore -- tell me what they do, are they supposed to be like the same? (as this is how I found them if it's not supposed to be that way I'm clueless as to how the change happened)

Note: I never edited these by hand except for the busethreadedai modification that as i understand it you must do if you have more than to cpu cores or the game will be unstable.

Other than that I have done nothing to the files

negative.

Note: please look carefully at the shot I provided you on this post: (https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4706415-crash-in-vault-101-atrium/page-4&do=findComment&comment=41177470)

in the second shot, it clearly shows where the files are at that are what we use to edit things, you do not edit game files in it's directory unless it is a modded instruction.

This assumption you edit files "found" in the root of the game folder is the mistake...best I can tell here?

in the shot, the lower one, with the skeleton, it shows the path at the top of the shot. " C:\Users\KittyIsABallOfFun\Documents\My Games\Fallout3", that's for my place, yours will be different as for user name, but that / those are what we edit.

this is your mistake..and it's a common one too so do not feel bad...getting it figured out fixes later mistakes.

The file you sent to me is the file the engine uses to draw information from, you never touch that. Not all the code in them run. but if you mess with them.......you end up here...going through all this hell.

what is going on now is confused me becuse I don't know what these TWO files are for, can you:

can you show me what vanilla files look like,

tell me specifically what each ini does,

tell me what this is and why I see it EVERYWHERE, if i'm not supposed to do it:

Third:

1.The fix for this Fallout 3 bug is very easy: just copy and paste and you are ready to go:
-Open the folder My documents / My Games / Fallout3
-Edit the file FALLOUT.ini.
-Inside FALLOUT.ini look for a group called [general].
-Inside the general group, after all the configuration parameters, just copy and paste the following 2 lines:

bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=2

Now close and save the Fallout 3 configuration file.

Please answer each of these questions, so that I can comunicate to you more clearly.

also tell me what you think I did step by step because I think we are having a communication problem

this is a shot of an iso burnt game that runs from a ISO image after I installed the game, nothing period can write to it's as a source.

part of your answer lies in the data used, this is NOT a DLC content type of game, it's just the first retail disc installed and then ran, and then backed up to an image for safe keeping. I just ran this game and it runs smooth as silk, then I set the key bindings and that gets written too the fallout3pref,ini file.

the file size has not changed at all and those files are not in that image. They are written to the OS control folders in C:\drive as seen in the shot here.

I have yet to even use the quad core fix in an INI tweak, My machine runs just about anything, so it is others that have low end machines and or graphics cards , messed up operating systems, lacking in support code or just plain bad installations that require a quad core fix.

If you see every one jumping off a bridge, are you going to join them? Just because you see things posted all over the place does not mean you need to follow them. the real question is, does your machine require these tweaks in the first place?

If I showed you how to master tweak the game, it would take about a month non stop typing to write all of that out, would that mean every one would be required to do that too?

I don't believe so. The game disc is the source, how it's shipped, the digital media from steam is the source, and it's shipped in its' own way, both versions install the game as IS and no additional requirement s are needed.

IF your machine needs it? then these posts for instructions are there for you to try...Nothing here is written in stone, no 2 machines will react the same.

Just install and play the game. I read what you did, and the outcome, what ever key bindings your using are most likely NON English. OR your key board is uncommon.
