Magic resistance questions

Does the damage reduction from frost/fire/shock from Elemental Protection apply if the spell does not hit the shield, but the shield is raised?

Do Resist Magic items stack arithmetically with one another, with the Alteration resist-magic perks, and Breton blood?

Does the damage reduction from Elemental Protection stack with Resist Magic? If so, how? Is it possible to negate all incoming frost/fire/shock damage with shield raised, breton blood, and +25% magic resistance from other sources?

I can only suggest seeing which active effects you have on your character.

I would think they do stack.

It would be great to have a total or percentage in the UI somewhere rather than a huge list of all spells and items that are active.

The magic resist cap is 85%. This means if a spell does 100 damage you take 15 damage.

Elemental Protection and effects that block only a particular element or type of magic do not stack arithmetically. I believe that the magic resist is applied first, then the elemental protection is applied.

So if you have 50% MR, and 50% Frost resist and a spell hits you for 100 frost damage you take 25 frost damage. I am not entirely certain of this however, I read it on one of the wikis -- but I can no longer find it on the MR page.

Breton Blood, Alteration Perks, Lord stone, and Mara quest stack. This is a quick way to get A LOT of MR.

Notice the wiki has been edited last time I visited it had a lot more info about MR.
