Smithing experience fix >_>..?

I'm posting here simply because I have absolutely no idea how to do it myself, or I would.

Bethesda hasn't announced plans to fix this slight issue, but it is more a quality of life thing than an OMG UBER AWESOME MOD idea. Simply put, perhaps make items of every material give different amounts of Smithing experience. As it currently stands, an Iron Dagger will grant, say, 20% of your Smithing level, where a pair of Glass Boots will grant the exact same amount of experience.

It's excessively disheartening of a crafting skill to level up, and it makes Smithing less interesting. I could refrain from crafting low level stuff at higher levels of Smithing, but then what am I to do with Iron Bars and Steel Bars ? Mostly I suppose I'd like to put an in-game limit to what I deem excessively poorly planned design, in that specific area of the game. The other professions are great, I find <3

Thanks to whomever decides to pick that idea up, if it's taken up.

I found smithing to be overly exploitable for the very reason you mention. Every smith sells leather and iron and normally in decent quantity, so its very easy to just grind daggers and leather bracers. I also was bothered by how little experience I would get for refining weapons and armor even though I would so often be doubling their rating. But again, it was a small issue simply because its so easy to just grind out low level items for a very short period of time and get the rating up. A general re-balancing should be in order, though.
