jesusofwales
I built myself a new PC recently (specs in my sig) and have finally got around to installing Oblivion. My plan was to play around with a few of the more interesting mods before playing the game properly with a different set of mods. The first of the mods I tried was this one but I ran into a problem: I've installed the mod properly (to the best of my knowledge) with the .esp file, 'meshes' and 'textures' folders in the Oblivion\data folder of the install directory. The Oblivion Launcher 'Data Files' dialogue detects the .esp and I have checked it (only it and the stock Oblivion file are present as this is a completely fresh install). I then load the game (no errors) but no part of the mod is there - no ship, no amulet to buy from Wilbur - nothing. Its as if I never installed the mod! I've tried waiting a few days, fast travelling around the map, multiple characters and it still seems as though the mod isn't active. My best guess is that the game does not load the .esp for some reason, despite me checking it in the oblivion launcher. I then tried moving some of the meshes that the mod uses which should cause an error when the mod loads - but there is no change at all. This further reinforces my theory that the Oblivion launcher does not load the .esp. I also tried another mod that uses a .esp and does not replace any other game files (ie does not require an ArchiveInvalidation change) and the same problem occurs - its as if there was no .esp file. I've just installed OBMM (though I haven't delved into its settings yet), and there is no change. For what its worth I found someone with the same problem as me:http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/oblivion_te...57/19618836/p1/ Just look at how that thread ends... I've had plently of experience modding Morrowind and this has me utterly stumped! Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

jesusofwales
I installed all the official plugins thus updating to V1.2.0416 and now everything works as it should. It seems it was a simple compatibility issue with the mod being made for V1.2+ and my game being unpatched vanilla Oblivion.
