FlexySanders
When I saw the trailer and heard FUS-ROH-DA! for the first time, it was powerful. It made me think that the battles would be epic and I'd feel mighty. But the shouts actually sound like some stifled sound a mental retard would make. For example:FUS-ROH-DA sounds like "fus...RODAA!"Ohdaviing sound like "oh...DAWING!" I'm disappointed. What do you say?
Zaelers
Mental retard is probably pushing it... but I'll bite anyway. I think of the longer shouts (more levels) as you inhaling at first whilst speaking the first word, then exhaling louder with the others. Makes sense, to me anyway. Thoreai
I like them the way they are ....but they dont sound so powerfull as they were looking in the teaser plus they arent really any different from spells, only difference instead of casting you shout other then that they are basicaly just spells.I find them more of an excuse so you can go hunt dragons and feel a bit powerful, i dont have higher lvl shouts yet though, so i could be wrong. I like the chant implied by the trailer, but I understand why it is how it is: FUS, WULD: Summoning the beginning of the Shout's power, defining what it is, so that your soul will know what you wish to projectRODA! NAHKEST: Releasing the Shout while also defining the things you want the Shout to do; you want the Force you are releasing to balance out and push harder as it leaves, the whirlwind that you are riding forward to be furious and like a tempest, etc. With Ohdaviing, got nothing. Btasty
Just for future reference you might want to use more mature language when creating a topic. Using language like "But the shouts actually sound like some stifled sound a mental retard would make." just makes you sound immature and invalidates your argument. It also tends to create flame wars. Anyway for the meat of the question. I personally think that some of the effects are underwhelming. For example my fire-breath is really just a glorified spell with no mana cost. However I think most of them sound cool. Especially unrelenting force. I get chills down my back from using it :3. Maybe you just don't like them as much because you built the idea up in your head to much, which is perfectly understandable (I do it all the time with movies). Trey5511
invalidates your argument No, it just makes you sound immature. Had he described the shouts in a more PC manner(yet consistent with his meaning), his argument would still have the same weight.
Tweetybird
Like angrytiger explains, I think that they are like that because it shows the force that the user has to expel the Shout with to make it effective. If you've gotten far enough in the game I'm sure you'll notice that the Clear Skies shout tends to throw your balance a little bit just like the full Unrelenting Force one does. Had he described the shouts in a more PC manner(yet consistent with his meaning), his argument would still have the same weight. Not really. He could say in multiple ways how he doesn't like it, but the fact that his own folly (basically over hyping a certain aspect of the game) being the reason he doesn't like something, of which he stated, is what invalidates his argument. That, and it is also a matter of opinion... who's to say that I don't feel epic and mighty while using shouts? Another invalidation to an argument, because this will just become, and kind of already has become, a shouting (pun intended) contest to whom the most ignorant will win. Basically, an argument needs to either be open ended, so it can come to an agreement to either end, or backed up with a couple facts/rational ideas to convince the opposing party to favor your view... but this is just his opinion, albeit an immature one, thus there really is no argument here. But yeah, like I already said, I like the shouts  .

When I mean "invalidate" i really mean some people will, because of the immaturity, dismiss it as just the angry rantings of a disappointed gamer, instead of a discussion containing actual intellectual value. Yeah I'm thinking in my head to much... Give me a break. I'm pulling an all-nigher =D.

As I said, if presented in a more PC manner than still conveys his meaning, his argument would have the same weight(ie. none). Immaturity doesn't invalidate an argument. Lack of evidence invalidates an argument. Using subjective evidence as objective invalidates an argument. Not actually presenting a fully formed argument invalidates an argument. Immaturity doesn't.
