[modrequest] Heavy machinegun turret Overhaul

My problem with the different Mark 1-7 Heavy machinegun turrets is listed in the wiki:

 

Machine gun turrets have a chance to spawn at a higher level the further away from Vault 111 they are being built. This is possible to exploit - when placing a machine gun turret in workshop mode, you can turn it around and you will see its level (MK 1, MK 3, MK 5, MK 7), from there, you can cycle between turrets back and forth until you see the desired level, when you place turret it will be at this level.

 

I will often place the best possible turret tier avaiable to that specific settlement, resulting a lot of shuffling between turrets in the workshop menu. I think that this could be improved by making the Heavy machinegun Mark tier to be limited by the Gun Nut perk, what I mean is made clearer in the example:

 

Heavy machinegun turret Mk1 would require Rank 1 Gun Nut

Heavy machinegun turret Mk3 would require Rank 2 Gun nut, Mk1 would no longer appear in the workshop menu

Heavy machinegun turret Mk5 woudl require Rank 3 Gun nut, Mk3 would no longer appear in the workshop menu

Heavy machinegun turret Mk7 would require Rank 4 Gun nut, Mk5 would no longer appear in the workshop menu

 

This would be the dream.

 

I have tried mods that have made possible to "just build" higher Mark turrets, but I don't think thats the way Id like it to work. Besides, that adds far too many turrets in the workshop menu, yuck.

 

Extra: This is not necessary, but you guys know how the repair prompt works? You go to the broken turret, mouseover it in workshop mode and hit a button for Repair prompt? Id like to see something similar but instead of repairing, upgrading. It could have the same cost of materials as repairing does, but instead of just repairing it, the turret would be upgraded based on the players Gun Nut perk. Just an extra :smile:

In a way, I like the way the turret stats are right now. If the settlement turrets are buffed, then defending becomes trivial and thats not the point. On the other hand, enemy turrets including those hideous shopping cart turrets dont offer any challenge to me, as most of the time I simply out range em. Machinegun turrets bullet spread is massive on mid to long range, and in a way that makes sense. I think that Heavy Laser Turret shines on low to long range, as it should due to the higher point investment and power requirement. Hell, most of my charracters don't even reach 6 Intellect before level 50 or so :D
