Finishing the 'Unfinished' Quests

I dunno if anyone said anything about this or attempted this before. <<

This is just a suggestion...you know how you'll probably see some weird thing or hear some dialog about something that sounds like it's from a quest?

Can some modders actually build up quests on these things?

Like, here's a list I got from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Easter_Eggs (I kinda picked out which ones seemed mod-worthy)

~In the lake slightly West of Fort Nikel lies a corpse identified as that of Nath Dyer. On the corpse, you will find a primrose and an undelivered love letter written by Nath to a woman he is interested in courting. Unfortunately, it seems Nath never made it to the city to deliver his letter. In the construction set, there are two hidden names for this corpse, DeadLoverFortNikel and NathanMcDyer. Therefore it is likely this corpse is named after Nathan McDyer, a Bethesda employee who was on the Quality Assurance team for Oblivion.

~Within the Arena Bloodworks, to the right of Owyn and upon the ground, lies a letter from a woman - Branwen - claiming to be his daughter. The letter states that, whether or not he likes it, Owyn will be forced to recognize her claim of kinship when she becomes Champion of the Arena. Branwen may be found in the Arena District of the Imperial City, sparring with Saliith. (I'd personally love to see this one done as a quest)

~Upon first entering the Market District, a notice will appear in the upper left-hand corner of the screen reading "New Topic: Do you need couriers". Despite this, there exist no NPCs with whom this topic may be discussed.

* The topic's ID, "ImpExWork" [00025CF7], has no associated NPCs, and thus, it may not be used. The group also includes further entries: "ImpExAccept" [0025CF6], "ImpExReject" [00025CF4], "ImpExDeliveredLetter" [00025CF2], and "ImpExGiveLetter" [00025CF3], all of which are unassociated. The ID tag itself may have been intended as an easter egg, "ImpEx" appearing much like "FedEx", the Imperial Express Delivery Service and Federal Express Delivery Service

~Gilgondorin, innkeeper of Silverhome-on-the-Water in Bravil, states that Dro'shanji has seen creatures around his house and that you should speak with him; however, Dro'shanji's home is quite normal, and he himself has no special dialogue options regardless of his disposition.

~Residents of Chorrol will often discuss the strange behavior of Eugal Bellete. A visit to his home will reveal a basement full of humanoid skulls and Mythic Dawn paraphernalia. Despite this discovery, he may not be reported, nor will he discuss the subject. Of all the Mythic Dawn "sleeper agents", Eugal is the only one whose behavior garners public attention.

~A common rumor in Chorrol speaks of "shady" dealings at The Oak and Crosier, a local inn. Entering the basement of said structure will spark the cave or ruin exploration music, despite being monster-free. (I'd like to see something about this, too)

~There is a house in Skingrad, across from Rosethorn Hall, which is owned by someone named Nerastarel. If you enter the house it appears to be long-abandoned and in shambles (despite the fact that it looks fine from the outside) and has several undead in it. Strangely enough, there is no one in the game by the name of Nerastarel, only his house. Was Nerastarel a necromancer forced to flee the city, even the province, due to some unfortunate circumstances? Or was he innocent, and it was a necromancer who forced him to flee? There are no bones in or around the house, so it's safe to assume that whether or not Nerastarel's alive, he didn't die there. (The tree in his backyard is also dead and toppled, which may or may not bear significance.)

In our mod 'Kragenir's Death Quest '(wip issue later this year) we plan to make use of some of those things and a couple of others - noises in Droshanji's house, S'drassa in the Leyawiin mages guild making a cure for Skooma, jobs for the Courier, the connection between the Orum gang and the Camorra Tong thugs. There is also a drafted quest that gives more info on Neresterel's disappearance although we haven't finally decided on including that one yet. (We have put a mod NPC in that house who explains the skeletons inside.) You find out why there is no mages's guild in Skingrad and why there is no Mrs Ottus guide to Skingrad. You learn what happened to the two ruined houses in game and the shipwreck north west of Anvil etc. There are some other explanations too but I don't want to give it all away.

Myself I think that the Eugel Belette is adequately explained by what you find in his cellar.

As for the multiplicity of bits of colour (Nath Dyer, the troll under the bridge, the mysterious directions etc.) I am happy with them as they are.

What I still wonder about is why Sir Lazare Milvan (used in our mod) has an uber rat in his cellar. Neither that nor the strange music in the Chorrol O and C cellar are explained by our mod - as yet. I don't want to add more quests to the mod but I may be able to cover them in a letter or a book. I'll have a discussion with Povuholo and see what he thinks.

Interesting! I'll look forward to that.

And there *is* a Mages guild in Skingrad, I remember the head was a 'busybody'.

Since when isn't there a guild in skingrad?

There's also a quest you didn't mention, one which is actually laid out fairly well, but wasn't completed...

http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=23978&hl=

Nobody took me on the offer either.

I guess I skipped that one by accident. It'll be a nice quest to add in, though.

OH and there's one thing...In Cheydinhal, you know how there are rumors going around about the Count's wife's 'suspicious' death? I think a quest to get to the bottom of that would be nice, too.

  • 1 year later...
I'm working on a "Branwen and Owyn" quest mod at the moment. If I'm not very busy in the coming weeks I might consider making other unfinished quests as well and put them all together in an "Unfinished Quests Completed" mod or something like that.
