Gabby2805
So I've been retexturing Skyrim and testing it out and everything seemed fine in the process but now I'm noticing microstuttering and very frequent and very heavy seemingly random lag spikes. My PC:intel i7 6700k 4GHzMSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB32GB (2x16gb) RAM1TB SSD4K G-Sync MonitorWindows 10 I play in 1080p and get 60fps most of the time, even with pretty much every single 4K and Parallax mods I can find. I'm concerned that it is due to Windows 10 capping the VRAM usage to 4GB but I have no way of monitoring my VRAM usage because every program I've tried which allows this either doesnt work with Skyrim with enbseries or makes Skyrim crash at startup. I'll be walking along or turning around and sometimes I drop from around 60fps to as low as 15fps! It happens in certain areas e.g. near Whiterun Stables but when I try to look for any patterns where these lag spikes occur, I can't notice any. Does anyone have any ideas what might cause these lag spikes or better, have any idea how I can fix them? I've tried playing around with ENBoost but to be honest, I'm not sure which lines of my enblocal.ini are essential and which I need to change..I don't want to mess up my ENB so if anyone can help me with that too that would be great. I've done a clean install and only installed graphical mods etc so far...SKSEENB SeriesSkyUISSMESafety LoadStable uGridsToLoadMemory Blocks LogBug FixesCrash FixesRealistic Ragdolls and ForceFNIS - Fores New Idles in SkyrimXP32 Maximum Skeleton ExtendedHDT Physics ExtensionsHDT High Heels SystemHDT Breast and Butt PhysicsNo More Blocky FacesCBBEFemFeet RedesignedFeminine HandsGender and Race HeightDemoniac Female Body TextureSkySight Skins - Skyrm requires a refresh rate no higher than 60 hertz because otherwise it creates issues with CPU driven physics. If you read up on it you will find the havoc engine does not play well over 60 hertz refresh rate. You may have to experiment a little bit with the actual refresh rate in order to Solve your specific issue. BlueGunk
I run a GTX 980Ti on 6GB, WIn 10 and an i7 processor with buckets of RAM and a 21:9 GSync wide monitor. Pick yourself up a copy of NVidia Inspector (google it - it's free - requests donations). STEP give a guide on how to use it. This will allow you to set a cap of 60 FPS for a start which does resolve quite a few issues, plus other things. Secondly, in the ENBLocal.ini, (because Win 10 makes a mess of the 32 bit games with its new "compression layers"), you need to set these lines: ExpandSystemMemoryX64=falseReduceSystemMemoryUsage=trueDisableDriverMemoryManager=false DisablePreloadToVRAM=falseEnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false //I found using 'true' adds nearly 1GB Memory Load in places! EEK!ReservedMemorySizeMb=384 //this is purely my preferred settingVideoMemorySizeMb=3714 //Win 10 memory bug max = 4096. Knock 350 off and set to 3714. [sadly this is the limit - no point using any higher]EnableCompression=true //just experiment with true / false if you continue to experience stuttering after setting the aboveAutodetectVideoMemorySize=false // set to false for "VideoMemorySizeMb" to take effect You can tinker with ReservedMemorySize to fix micro-stutter but don't set it too high. There are guides in STEP and other places for that line. I get pretty much 60FPS on a 2k everywhere except for Whiterun, WIndhelm, and Solitude where it staggers a bit. Sadly the 32bit limit means you are up against Win 10's memory abomination if you have a lot of mods and textures. I tried the 4k parallax stuff but it was a bit too heavy for my 980Ti and my giant pile of mods (almost as adventurous as yours)! I do get weird collapses to 10FPS from time to time - Dragon's Bridge with JK Skyrim is one. But there seems to be nothing I can do to fix it short of wait for the texture packs to load. I understand texture packs like to use contiguous blocks of memory, so that might be a cause of that. I look forward to the new release in October: 64bit! Yay! Hope this helps you. Oh right...I thought G-Sync was supposed to improve microsuttering. So should I turn off G-Sync and/or V-Sync? I believe I have already turned off V-Sync and I have tried to cap my FPS at 60 using the ENBlocal.ini, how else can I cap the frames?

Thank you, thats really helpful information. It seemed like my game was totally screwed so I've done a clean reinstall (thank god I was only doing a test run!). So if I run into the problems again, I'll definitely take your advice into account and I also need to read STEP more in depth.
BlueGunk
Thanks! Don't turn off G-Synch! That's the most amazing thing - works a treat! It makes my game as smooth as butter but the high FPS spikes started sending things a bit wonky with flying interior objects, etc..I gather Skyrim likes to run at 30 or 60FPS and NVidia Inspector is really neat at forcing a cap without using the ENB FPS cap which is a bit iffy on holding the cap.I also like to keep my 980Ti card at 75 degrees C max, as I prefer to maintain my investment rather than barbecue it. NVidia Inspector allows me to do that easily, too.

Thanks again, thats also really helpful :) Yeah I was going to say..I didn't really want to be turning G-sync off so great, I'll leave it on! :) I'll have to use NVIDIA inspector more and add a cap if problems persist. After doing some more careful reading of STEP, I've found that increasing ReservedMemorySizeMb in my enblocal.ini may help with my stuttering. I wondered why Tetrachromatic ENB was smoother than RealVision - turns out that option in the enblocal.ini for Tetra is set to 512 whereas the default for RealVision ENB is less than this, so I've bumped it up to 640 and even though I've done a clean reinstall and got rid of all my textures now, it seems to be smoother...I'll just have to see what happens when I put my textures back on and perhaps I need to keep experimenting with my enblocal.ini. BlueGunk
Out of curiosity, I lifted my NVidia Inspector cap to 80fps, and reduced the reserved memory size down. I think the result is a smoother game. So it's worth experimenting (brave last words before game crashes....) :teehee:
HyperGenz
Same result did the stuff you guys said to do and am still getting micro stuttering When i put enb in and it enabled a enb filter "a thing that changes the screen color " its just made it worse went outside from the cave and it's a whole lot worse. Before I tried these settings it was perfectly fine, good 60fps all the time but when i go into caves and dungeons it micro stutters really bad.... Here are my specs AMD FX 4300 3.80Ghz "4 core all unparked "AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB 8GB DDR3 1600mhz1920x1080 60hz HDMI I also tried setting FPS limiter to 59fps on the Radeon crimson driver and a few moments ago i tried setting fps limiter to 59 fps and selected 60Hz monitor on the Radeon Pro program and the same resultHere are my settings for the Radeon crimson driverThis is the SKSE of skyrim https://i.imgur.com/2h12y6v.jpgThis is the original games .exe https://i.imgur.com/ZyBtvgz.jpgany help would be great I still need to look but is there any thing on Nexus that could help my issue with the micro stuttering in Caves and dungeons and its only on those to types nothing else the rest of the games run amazing and remember i have skyrim legendary edition latest version Edited May 18, 2018 by HyperRevolverX
HyperGenz
Ok so i have a Update ...... I also removed ENB from the game because it just made the problem worse so why have it When i start the game and load the same save i noticed that " yes it's still bad the same as 5 mins ago " after a few mins of playing i see it starts to smoothen out less and less Micro stutter so i left the cave went outside no Microstuttering... I went back into the cave and i went around to find those spots in the cave " i was eyeing that frame counter " and i notice when i do stutter it goes to 61, 63, and 65 fps at different times... but most of the time after it smoothen out it's steady at 60FPS So what i do know is the havoc game engine can't handle anything higher then 60 FPS or it will stutterI don't get it i tried setting the fps CAP under Radeon Crimson control panel i also tried the Radeon pro What i have not tried was setting it in the INI Going to try that next after i hit post
