calyps
A temperature mod that causes minor damage over time if you aren't bundled up is in order. Just add a fur lined cloak that fits over every armor (that's all, easy peasy, hehe). Lotta work but it would be pretty cool. You'd have to add zone boxes to big chunks of the world (the colder areas) telling the game to cause that damage, and you'd have to make standing next to a fire have the same effect as wearing a cloak, or even speed up health regeneration (that'd be cool). And water should definitely hurt in the colder areas and the effect should last until you dry out or find a fire (or build one) to stand by for a few minutes. If you're wet in icy area and you can't find a fire or shelter and run out of potions you just die of hypothermia. Hardcore mode for Skyrim. calyps
There could even be a visual effect for hypothermia, akin to poison effects. I'm thinking a black tunnel that eats up more and more of the screen as your condition worsens. And if you also had a decent animator you could make a great hunched and shivered on the verge of death stumble.
CampanaAliquanta
Yes, there are people interested in this: As the title says, this mod will be all about adding immersion and realism to the game, with accent on immersion. The end goal is to provide the player with a wide assortment of small "everyday" activities and gameplay requirements designed to pull them further into the game world and also make basic gameplay much more challenging and interesting. The mod will at first come in the form of modules so that the players can mix and match the features they like, and pending availability of scripting support there will be later an ingame options menu where players will be able to set all the parameters to their liking. [...] Survival changes: environmental hazards; going around scantily dressed in a blizzard will not be good for your health, even if you are a Nord. Trudging through rain/snowstorm for hours will make you tired. Hypothermia will slow you down.clothing overhaul; different types of clothing for different situations. You will want a nice warm fur coat (figure out if it is possible to add an "overcoat" so that the player can still wear armor underneath) high in the mountainsdeployable camping gear; specifically, methods to combat environmental hazards (campfire), cooking gear, small tent and a bedroll
calyps
total-realism-overhaul Wow, that is a lot of changes. Thankfully he said it will be modular. I think all at once is a lot to swallow since one could easily disagree with his implementation. Like the crime thing, I like how, in Skyrim vanilla, if no one sees you do something it doesn't affect your rep unlike in FO3 where stealing lowered karma regardless of who saw. It seems counterproductive to add back in psychic karma effects. If I'm doing a bunch of nice things for everyone no one is going to suspect that I'm the one robbing everyone blind (same way certain holy men get away with horrible crimes). Cold is cold however. The cold effects can be agreed upon I think, and if you don't like it you don't dl. When the CK comes out I'll be playing with it to see how much of what I've said could be done. I can't animate so that ain't happening. But I know how to create area effects. I'm sure water can be made painful (such a classic FPS effect should be buried in there somewhere).
