Korg63
Okay, so I know that my rig ISN'T naturally going to handle this game at 30fps. It's just not good enough. I looked at the minimum system requirements and thought I could play, but didn't take into account that I have integrated parts and that it would take a lot more to run it. Well, too late now I guess as I now have the game. Here's my specs. I have and HP G62 Notebook:AMD Athlon II P340 Dual-Core Processor 2.20 GHz3.00 GB RAMAMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Here's the thing. Is there any way, and I mean ANY way for me to play this game at 30fps? I average about 10-15 right now which is barely playable. Keep in mind, this is after the ENB patch, fps for ATI fix, disabling shadows completely, turning off vsync, disabling mouth smoothing, setting my cards settings to "high performance" in the catalyst menu, and setting Skyrim to high priority in task manager ever time. Oh, and I installed reduced textures. Please help me. This is my only computer for probably the next five years. I come from a very financially unstable family and my paychecks are being held illegally from my employer because of complications from my family. It's a rough situation. I REALLY want to play this game. I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan. Thanks in advance guys. <
yourkillingme
Here's some things you can do: 1. Please google how to get the best performance from your rig, turn off all unnecessary programs, smooth fonts, etc. You need to have your computer in the best "performance mode." 2. Perform a defrag. 3. Check for virus, spyware, etc.4. Find out how to put your anti-virus software in "game-mode," it is a major background drain on your rig,5. Perform a system cleanup, i.e. search for "disc cleanup," and delete all temporary files.6. Increase your ram (I know some people say it might not make a difference, but why not?)7. Play in windowed mode8. Free up your memory (i.e. delete movies, songs, etc that you don't need).9. you can look how to perform .ini tweaks by googling it (look for .ini tweaks for performance issues). This might actually be a problem I've read with the new Steam update though. They say the .ini is now encrypted. If after all of this is said and done and you are still not able to play, You now have a choice:1. Give up because it won't play.2. Get a BestBuy Credit Card and buy the newest and latest gaming computer to run this badboy (I did, and I certainly DO NOT regret it). Hope this helps. I do this even on my new powerful gaming computer that I bought a month ago. But I'm a perfectionist. ;)
RejectedCamel
The graphics card is very weak but should be able to run the game at 30 FPS+ if you play at 800 x 600 with all the settings on lowest, but your processor is simply far too weak. You probably have a slow hard drive too, but the main issue is the processor. I'm surprised Skyrim even starts up. I'm very sorry to say that, but it's the unfortunate truth. There will probably be some sort of mod in the future that disables dynamic lighting, all shadows, vegetation movement and reduces the amount of NPCs, but until that happens, it seems you'll be unable to play. I just hope your family can pull through. I personally haven't been affected by the global recession, but most people were, and in your case it seems your family was hit horribly hard by the crisis. Best of luck. Edited November 23, 2011 by RejectedCamel
Korg63
Thanks guys! I am actually quite happy to report that I am now averaging around 20 fps now after going into windowed mode. 800x whatever it is is a really small window, but hey, the game is at least a bit playable now. I'm going to try to do a lot more .ini tweaking to try to get it up to 30fps on average, although I'm sad to say that this probably won't happen. RadeonPro is a beautiful tool by the way. I strongly recommend it.RejectedCamel, would you recommend overclocking my processor? Just wondering. I've heard it works for some and can be pretty bad for others. And thanks by the way. We're pulling through.

We're pulling through.I won't fully recommend any sort of overclocking because there's a potential risk of irreversibly damaging your hardware, like a friend of mine did with his Radeon 4870. If you've got an appropriately cooled system and a good motherboard, then by all means go ahead, it should help quite a bit depending on what speeds you can hit (apparently Skyrim is all about processor speed, and not cache memory, threading, etc.) Don't expect any miracles, but you should notice a bit of an improvement if you can step it up 200-300 MHz. Korg63
Alright. I guess I won't overlclock then. My laptop has a tendency to run a little hot anyways. It would automatically shut itself down if it got too hot, but don't want to risk putting too much strain on it. Like I said, it's probably my only computer for about 5-10 years. I can live with 20 fps I guess. Thanks guys!
Robynah
The processor is relateivly weak but lets not get carried away. At 3ghz an athlon II can comfortably run the game on high settings. So at 2.2 ghz its not going to be completely hopeless. The weak point is more the graphic card.
Korg63
That's really too bad. :/ I love this game. Wish I didn't have these "weak points" to hold me back but oh well. :P
