llidd
In Particular, I was caving and wondering where the amorphous blobs were and expecting mimic chests. Wouldn't it be cool to have hordes of welks to fight? (skyracers) I would also enjoy verbal taunts, to impress and intimidate! Mostly i just want my autistic Kajiit to at least curse or swear or shout a catch phrase. ( i could record them my self i just need buttons!) Of course The User interface would benefit from say a morrowind display? Or at least give me some information tables for comparasine. I've taken to jotting down things! common! Multiple map markers. So what do you guys think?Edit: Pick your favourite Monsters/Creatures that is a must for skyrim. Make sure to bump this if any new MODS are released for more Monsters/Creatures! Terralventhe
Different regions = Different beasties. Expecting to see the same monsters all over the world is like going to Alaska and saying "Where are the hippos and zebras?" or going to Syria and complaining there aren't any polar bears or penguins. Just sayin'.

Just sayin'.I think comparing reality to a fantasy game is your first mistake here. Know what else Skyrim has? A talking dog, a headless horseman, and a wand that turns people into rabbits. If you need an excuse why Cyrodil/ DnD/ Warcraft creatures are suddenly in Skyrim, let me give you an explanation; a daedra did it.
Terralventhe
Who says I was comparing it to reality? I was comparing it to common sense. I wasn't aware that common sense was waved all of a sudden when creating a coherent setting. Even in DnD there's basic templates for climates, terrain and regions for monsters. gmillar
While your point about different creatures in different regions does have some validity, it's not like Bethesda included every monster that would ever live in a region like Skyrim. Just because the OP wants more creatures doesn't necessarily mean he's suggesting adding zebras and giraffes and whale sharks and jelly fish. Just sayin. Terralventhe
Well, dependant on what creatures he's asking for.. it kind of is. Now, on the other hand, if you were to try and make sense of it, that's another thing entirely. If, say, some caravaners were transporting exotic beasties for some festival, or for the mage college to experiment on, or simply as patronage to a Jarl, and then them escaping from their cage? Now you have a valid reason for why it might be in Skyrim, plus a potential quest. Edited November 24, 2011 by Terralventhe
Sanzennin
Skyrim needs more mobs. For some reason, all the mobs above ground are just basically a bunch of mobs with original colours, and a bunch of cloned mobs coloured white and named "Ice <mobname>" Or a "Drough, Restless Drough, Drough <whatever>" and they all look the same ^_^"
lolozori
yea more animals to start would be awesome, i would like to see cats, birds, seaguls,Wild boars ( a celtic-like games without them, wtf), whales, orca, pinguins...
Kalva
Naturally everyone supports this idea. We would all like to see more opponents, more things to cleave, more things to fear. More wild life just for looks would be wonderful. I personally would love to see some 'pinguins'(I'm not picking on you for the typo, I just think it's fun to take typo's like that and make them into some legitimate fantasy lore for giggles.). Some sort of cave-dwelling penguin-creature with horns which has evolved to be blind like the Falmer, though more advanced as to develop echo location, to which they owe their name. A distinct 'ping' is emanated from them to give them a sort of sight as the vibrations bounce of surfaces and come. Game mechanically it would have to work like a cone-spell which makes the 'pinguin' see everything in that cone with 100% lighting and ignoring invisibility. Get ping'd by a pinguin, and there is no hiding unless you've got quick feet and Muffle! Returning to the 'horns' idea for pinguins, perhaps not quite horns but some sort of highly-sensitive antennae... For combat perhaps they're non-combatant? Likely to flee from the player with quick belly-slides. That or they should have one hell of a nasty little beak and claw-like growths on their fins. ... Anyone else think I've got too much free time? Also, +1 for Lolozori for giving me inspiration. Edited November 24, 2011 by Kalva
llidd
My interest in Creatures was just some variety and of course something suiting to the region. I am a firm believer of maintaining a rational Universe. @@KALVA: The Pinguins seem fun if say their "ping" were high pitch and deafening. (maybe the screen fuzzes out like eating bad ingredients) Rotten little jerks sure would make it tough to kill those darn arching skeletons then! I like that they're evasive and not aggressive. *motivated to sketch some Pingguins* I am super happy with this thread! Seems like there is something to it. Lets review some of the creativity here so far. The wildlife: cats, birds, seaguls,Wild boars, whales, orca, penguins (Zebras and Giraffs? ...hmmm I think they'll need a little Moon-spice; Winterhelm Zebentaurs, and Riften Harrafs. More on that later.) Regional encounters. East North South and West areas defining encounters. Caravans transporting exotic beasties (perhaps from Morrowind. ^.^ )Still need some lurking amorphous Blobs crawling the roofs of caves somewhere. In conversation we mentioned maybe a band of Gobblin Raiders or Sappers as an encounter too. Another Idea I had were seasonal encounters/quests: Terralventhe's Caravan quest in The last seed, But say Goblins looking for food attacking freindly remote camps in the spring? There sure are some neat story Ideas here. Especially concerning Zebentaurs and Harrafs. My initial concept for Zebentaurs are Black and white war horse sized Centaurs Working in threes (all female) Hunting animals, and often harassing giants (touch and go style): They would drop always the same book (zebra chants) a mix of ingredients ( depending on the creature-difficulty; ingredients to make a decent potion ) sticks (Branches they've fashioned into spears, they animate like swords and have 2 damage on pick up and work as two handed weapon for the player) Harrafs are; in my mind, a distant relation to the stiltstrider, smaller and more Giraffe sized - They tend to graze on coniferous Cones and Berries using a stalky but long tentecal like mouths to eat from the untouched tops of the trees. They are highly protective of the young (ratio of male to female adults say is 60/40) The females are highly aggressive if you are near the young, they'll kick you right in the jaw. Real mean suckers - the adults drop teeth (little value) yet the young drop some valuable skin meat for say a high end armour. If you are a programmer then pick the most compelling creature and make a mod!If none of us are programmers; at least we have an inspiring thread for a programming someone to come across. It would be fantastic to have some extra creatures, spice or variety to the world. It was what made Morrowind so darn enticing! There were so many cool fantasy town types, and just a variety of wild life. I give a thumbs up to the Celtic-Style woodland creatures - This would make Animal Empathy and Animal control a really fun skill The wood elf stares down a dragon, raising his spell hand and grinning he declares, "Attack! gnaw at him My flying squirrels!"
