Skyrim crash after character creation

Hi there,

 

First, pardon my english :) I'll do my best.

 

So, my Skyrim crashes during the game introduction, just after the character creation. The first prisonner is beheaded, and then, my computer crash. This does not happen at the same moment, i tryed different characters, sometimes, my char walks to the executionner, and then, the game crashes again.

 

I also tryed to download an illegal version of the game, just to be sure. I removed everything from my previous installation, kept the game clear of mods and tweaks, anyway...same problem, at the same moment.

 

I've updated my drivers, they're all up to date, i've tryed the sound fix (16bits, 44100)...but my game keeps crashing.

 

Btw, the crash is not total. My screen freezes, but i still ear music and ambiance sounds. I can ctrl + alt + del, and then kill Skyrim.exe. No BSOD, no hard reboot.

 

I've tryed everything, and the only solution i see is to buy the PS3 version of the game. But no more mods, no more customization... plus 70€ for playing a game i've already bought.

 

So, if you met the same problem, or if you know a way to help me, i would be eternally grateful :)

2 children, impossible to upgrade my computer atm :P

 

I know my computer is a bit old, anyway, the game is running correctly (realy).

Well, after 2 days of install / uninstall, i finally did it, my game works.

I don't know exactly what i did, so here's a timeline of my actions :

 

 

- Complete uninstall of the game, use of Ccleaner to remove temp files and other, and then reboot.

- Install of the game without steam, NO UPDATE

- Reboot

- Game launch, with the lowest settings (graphics), game was ugly btw.

- New game, saved just before character creation, i did not created a customized character, i took the first one that came, and named him "qmlf,s" or something like that :) no time loss

- Quit the game after the dragon came, no crash, wohooo :)

- Applyed update on the game, plus the large adress thing patch (4gb)

- Started a new game, low settings, no char creation. No crash at all :)

- Used my own graphic settings, started a new game, created my own character, and then...i passed the test :) I'm now playing this awesome game :)

 

As you can see, i did nothing special, anyway, maybe this will help a future player? I hope so.
