daelril
So i've read several topic and tutorials about using FOMM to create mods for Skyrim, but i can't get it to work. I downloaded the last version of FOMM but shile all the tools seems to work properly, TESsnip can't open my skyrim.esm file in any way. I also can't right click on skyrim.esm in the first screen. I always get this error http://www.salewick.org/zzimia/error.jpg and then the program crashes. This is the crash dump the error screen tells me to check, but still i can't understand why i can't use it. No one on the internet seems to have the same problem. Fomm 0.13.21OS version: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 System.ArgumentException: Invalid file format. in System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox.StreamIn(Stream data, Int32 flags) in System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox.StreamIn(String str, Int32 flags) in System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox.set_Rtf(String value) in Fomm.MainForm.LoadPluginInfo() in Fomm.MainForm.lvEspList_SelectedIndexChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e) in System.Windows.Forms.ListView.OnSelectedIndexChanged(EventArgs e) in System.Windows.Forms.ListView.WmReflectNotify(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.ListView.WndProc(Message& m) in L0ki.Controls.ReordableItemListView.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) Am i missing something? Any idea of what could be the problem? Edited November 24, 2011 by daelril
Werne
Try using FOMM that is capable of opening both FO3 and NV, I'm able to open Skyrim.esm with it. You can find it here.
Talonvore
Yes. You are using Fallout Mod Manager for Skyrim. With the advent of Nexus Mod Manager you should be using NMM for Skyrim, FO, and FONV. When you start up NMM it asks you which game you want to mod , then you simply select Skyrim and go from there. Werne
@Talonvore NMM can't mod Skyrim, it doesn't have the TESsnip integrated, it only has archiveinvalidation. @daelril Judging by the error FOMM gives you, it doesn't recognise the esm format, which is not a surprise. It sometimes gives that message to me too, and it sometimes works. It's weird actually.

Gomtuu
I just had the same problem, after poking around a bit I fixed it by editing the settings of FOMM (I could only reach them by starting Advanced setup). I changed the mod and install info directories and after that I could start FOMM. I couldn't click OK after changing the settings, but simply closing the window seemed to have done the trick. I think it crashes because it fails to read the files in those directories, and I assume you have installed mods already, I at least have.
