Replacing Khajiit Hairstyles...

Hello everyone and anyone :)

I'm a first time TES player (Skyrim is my first ever TES game, and am loving it immensely!), and I would like to learn how to replace some disliked Khajiit hairs with some I've seen on the Nords. I've been trying to find a tutorial, or some information on what program I need to do this, and how to go about replacing them, but have come up empty-handed so far - I have done a search on these forums and Google. I have seen other hairstyles being replaced, so I don't think I need the Creation Kit to do this .... does anyone have an idea of where I can start, or what I need to do?

Any info/help is much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance :)

Enjoji

PS - I'm not sure if this was the right place for this topic; I'm sorry if it isn't :(

First off you will need the FOMM, then you need the Nifskope and the xml file to make it open up Skyrim nifs without errors. You can find the appropriate links on this forum in the tutorial thread that might have to be searched for.

FOMM will give you errors, so just make a text file and rename it to the approprite file that the mod manager wants (fo3.exe I think). This will not interfere with your game starting up.

You will then need to extract all of the hairstyle meshes from the meshes.bsa using the FOMM. Its easier to extract them all and delete the ones you dont like.

What I did after that when I made my hairstyle mod was open up all of the human female styles until I found the ones I wanted, then I deleted the rest. Then I opened up all of the female elf hairstyles until I found the ones I wanted to replace.

After you have the ones you want, you need to rename the human female hairstyles with the elf hairstyle file names. You will need to do this with up to four files: hairline.tri and hairline.nif and hairstyle.nif and hairstyle.tri. Some of the hairstyles do not have hairline files because I think they share another styles hairline file.

When that is all done, copy the files (and their Directories) into the Skyrim folder found in the Steam program folder.

I think that about covers it.

Oh wow, thank you so much for the fast reply kitsuneshoujo! I was tearing my own hair out trying to figure out what I needed to do, and where to start!

I will go now and look for the programs you mentioned, and have a bash at it :D

Once again, thank you so much for your help! :)

Well, we all have to start somewhere :) At least I wasn't asking someone outright to make a mod for me, and want to learn to do it myself. That's something, I guess...

I really do appreciate it; have just downloaded FOMM and am currently searching for Nifskope ... :)
